Apple has announced its new iPhone 7, but previously also announced a new Apple Watch Series 2 and a pre-order date for it. The new Apple Watch 2 will come in many of the same styles but will also have a new Ceramic White version. Apple has added features that cater to runners and swimmers. It will run the new watchOS 3, which is currently in Beta but will be released soon. We have all the details regarding the pre-order date, time and availability of the new Apple Watch 2.
Apple Watch Series 2 now includes built-in GPS, which is great for runners who want to take advantage of the fitness tracking sensors inside the watch without carrying their iPhone. This means that someone can follow the running route or get more accurate directions directly from their watch.
The Apple Watch goes on sale for pre-order on September 9 and will ship on September 16.
The new Apple Watch Series 2 also has a faster dual-core processor. The current Apple Watch’s single-core processor causes slow performance. Users often tap their watch and have to wait for apps to launch. Sometimes this is partly due to the app running on the phone instead of the watch directly, but sometimes it’s because the watch is too slow to run the app. The faster dual-core processor aims to speed this up.
The Apple Watch 2 will be water resistant, or as the company called it during its announcement event, “swim resistant.”
Apple Watch Series 2 Pre-Order Date
So when will the Apple Watch Series 2 be available for pre-order? They announced that it will appear on Friday, September 9 at 12:01 PM. apple.com and possibly through them Apple Store mobile app. Buyers will receive their new Apple Watch 2 a week later on September 16.

Should you wait from late Thursday night until Friday morning to pre-order the Apple Watch Series 2? The watch probably won’t sell as fast as the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. However, if you need to get one on September 16, you should get your pre-order as soon as possible. It’s possible that Apple will have some ready for delivery on the 16th when people order on Friday and maybe over the weekend. Don’t rely on it though. You can also try your luck at an Apple Store on September 16 and buy one on launch day, but you’ll have to wait in a long queue.
Apple Watch Series 2 Pricing and Styles
The new Apple Watch Series 2 pre-order will include several different styles and prices. Silver aluminum, gold aluminum, rose gold aluminum, and space gray found in the current Apple Watch generation will retail for $369 for the smaller 38mm Series 2. The larger 42mm will cost $399.
Customers can mix and match multiple case colors and styles with multiple Apple Watch 2 straps.
The current model, now called the Apple Watch Series 1, has a faster dual-core processor, but no GPS or water resistance. It starts at $269 for the 38mm and $299 for the 42mm model. Series 1 only comes in silver, space gray and gold. If you want the higher-end models, you’ll have to go for the more expensive Series 2.
The Stainless Steel Apple Watch 2 starts at $549 for the 38mm model and $599 for the 42mm. It’s also not coming in Series 1.
Apple offers a Nike-branded Apple Watch Series 2.
A new Nike-branded Apple Watch Series 2 will start at $369 and $399 for 38mm and 42mm versions.
Apple Watch Series 2 also comes with multiple watch band options. Some come at the base price level, but others cost more. For example, the cheapest watch with a Milanese Loop band starts at $699, and the Hermes-branded watch starts at $1,499.
The Apple Watch Edition now comes in Ceramic White.
Finally, Apple has added a new Apple Watch Series 2 with a White Ceramic case starting at $1,249 or $1,299 for all sizes. They claim that the material is harder than aluminum. They do not offer a material made of real gold like the first Apple Watch. Up to $17,000, it probably didn’t sell very well.
