The best Two Point Campus upgrades and research projects can be accessed through the Research Lab and its included Research Hub device. It provides tools to upgrade your decorations, resources, structures, and more (plus purely financial projects for money or Kudosh rewards). The best upgrades and projects to undertake at Two Point Campus are the ones you’ll benefit the most from – because considering research projects move between colleges, you need to think long-term. Below, we’ll list the best upgrades and research projects you’ll undertake on the Two-Point Campus, as well as the costs and benefits associated with researching upgrades.
The best upgrades for researching the Two Point Campus from the Research Center are the upgrades you’ll enjoy the most. Researching isn’t terribly expensive, but it’s incredibly time consuming, so committing to a project means you have to pick the best ones. Here are some key focus points you should get early on:
- Chair: Every lesson at Two Point Campus requires a Lecture Hall, and raising the Lectern improves all learning done at that Lecture Hall and improves Two Point Campus student grades. It’s not easy to stop your students from being brainless and serves as a general upgrade for all learning from then on.
- Research Center: In fact, upgrading the Hub itself makes it more efficient and reduces the time required for any research projects going through it from that point forward. Get it early and you’ll thank yourself for it later.
- Omni-Cure: When you come to campuses later, injuries are incredibly common and negatively affect student happiness and therefore everything else. Making your Medical Office more efficient on pain relievers and antidepressants is a big help here.
- Training Pane: Upgrading your staffing skills is almost as important as researching new technology, but the Education Pod is slow – at least until you spend some time researching better models. Once done, you’ll be able to pump new staff skills much more efficiently.
- Kudosh/Money projects: These are generated somewhat randomly and are difficult to predict, varying from campus to campus – but the principle is the same either way. If you have nothing else to research and no non-essential staff, put them here and make sure they get you something.
After that, you should focus on researching courses and projects. joyful run most often. For example, if you teach science extensively, research is promoted to this course. On a slightly smaller scale like Lectern it provides the greatest return on your investment. Building your infrastructure and resources, along with increasing Two Point Campus course points, is the key to victory.
Researching as a mechanic is broken down into a few steps that we lay out below for those who need a refresher.
- First, create a Research Lab, a dedicated room for research projects. The lab opens at Mitton University level.
- Choose a teacher and assign them to the Lab as you would any other room. Teachers may have research skills (represented by a microscope), which means they research more efficiently.
- Click on the Research Center, the giant device in the room, and press “Start New Project”.
- A list of possible projects to explore will present themselves. Some projects, such as staff with certain skills or certain rooms, are locked until you meet the right conditions.
- Select the desired project and pay the “Greenlight Fee” for the assigned teacher to begin research. An estimated research time will be added.
- Once the project is complete, you will be automatically provided with rewards and alerted.
The Greenlight Fee is usually very small, but the cost of the Research is actually in staff fees. Because projects require the constant presence of a teacher, this means you lose Two Point Campus money by having a professional look through microscopes when teaching courses or tutoring. That doesn’t mean it’s not worth investigating, but the price is higher than you might think – and that’s before you get into the upgrades.
When you make an upgrade for your researched equipment, it is not automatically applied. Click on the object you are researching to upgrade – for example, the Chair – and it will have a gear icon with an up arrow next to it. Hovering over it gives you an upgrade price, a staff requirement (almost always a janitor with at least one rank in Mechanic), and the time required for that upgrade, which varies with that staff member’s skill level. Click the upgrade button to devote yourself to improvement.
Upgraded items are made very passively and still allow the item to be used during this time – so the Omni-Cure can still be used, for example, while the janitor is raising it. Items you purchase always appear in an undeveloped state; nothing comes upgraded anyway. Also, keep in mind that the Doorman will be busy dealing with it, so they won’t be able to pick up the trash and protect the objects for the charm of Two Point Campus.
Research on Two Point Campus can be painfully slow, especially for some major upgrades. Here are a few ways to increase speed in the Research Lab:
- Upgrade the Research Center itself as outlined above.
- Place Furniture that increases Research Power, such as the Research Console, in the Lab.
- Train your staff in Research in the Training Room.
- Make sure staff are happy, energetic, and have no other commitments to push them away.
