Is your Google Home not working for a few weeks? You are not alone. Official Google forums, Reddit…many owners are complaining that their speakers crash and hang completely after what appears to be an OTA firmware update. The messages are the same: “help, my Google Home all four LEDs are on, no response and no connection”for example as said Umagafr3sh on Reddit or “My Google Home mini is stuck on all four lights, is it broken?”to request fatmacomit.
Google Home and Google Home Mini find themselves blocked after an update
When victims have a Google Home and Google Home Mini and neither turning the speaker off and then on again nor doing a factory reset fixes the problem. The first messages date back to September 20, 2019 – as an employee at the firm explained on September 28: “The entire team is working to resolve this issue, which is currently being investigated as not all Google Home devices are affected”. He then advises those concerned to report the problem to Google via the Google Home app and do a factory reset – but if the problem isn’t resolved at the end of these steps, it offers no solution.
Even more disturbing, some users on Reddit are reporting that Google is replacing affected devices under warranty, but offering absolutely nothing for others. If you’re affected by this issue, we still recommend contacting Google so they can at least register your case.
