The Unicode Consortium recently released Unicode 10.0 and includes new emoji characters like sandwich, vampire, and broccoli. The update also introduces a number of Typicon signs and symbols, as well as a Bitcoin token.

iOS 11 Beta

The current version of iOS 11 doesn’t include any new emoji for iPhone or iPad, and it’s unclear whether the new characters will be rolled into beta before the update’s release this fall.

For now, you’ll have to find another reason to try the iOS 11 beta on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

iOS 11 Emoji Release Date

Apple hasn’t confirmed a specific date, but says it will release new emoji characters to iOS, macOS and watchOS users before the end of the year.

iOS 11.1?

Last year, the company used the iOS 10.2 update to bring Unicode 9.0 support and more than 70 new emoji characters to iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

Apple’s iOS 10.2 update arrived in mid-December, months after the iOS 10 beta was completed and a few weeks after the official iOS 10 release.

If the company sticks to the same mold, we could see a landmark upgrade like iOS 11.1 or iOS 11.2 roll out these new emojis to iPhone and iPad users around the world.
