The story of Kumar Kartikeya is not a fairy tale. Kumar Kartikeya had to leave his city of Kanpur and move to Delhi at the age of 15 to hone his cricket skills. He left home, promising that cricket would not be a burden to them. Dreaming is one thing and financial instability is another. It takes hard labor when you have less money. But Kartikeya’s story is not a fairy tale. His dedication, hard work, and determination to stand up after all the wrath… success seems so easy when it comes.
Kartikeya worked as a laborer for food and shelter in a factory near Ghaziabad. He would work all night and come to practice in the morning. his coach Sanjay Bhardwaj offered him free coaching and let him stay with the chefs working at Delhi Academy.
“When the cook gave her lunch, Kartikeya started crying… she hadn’t had lunch in a year,” Bhardwaj told ESPNCricinfo.
He played for MP at U-23 level before making his List A and Ranji Trophy debut in the same state in late 2018. The freshman floated 35 small wickets in nine games and snatched 18 wickets from 19 List A matches in an economy of 4.08. .
In the Ranji Trophy 2021-22, Kartikeya swam 32 wickets in 11 innings, making him the second-highest gatekeeper in the tournament this year. Mumbai’s Shams Mulani is on top with 45 wickets in 11 innings.
