“Big blunder” – 3rd official uses a repeat of another delivery to check the absence of the ball in Pak vs WI; a Twitter user shares a picture

In the first ODI match of the ICC Cricker World Cup Super League series between Pakistan and the West Indies in Multan, the former was asked to go bowling first. Pakistani Shaheen Afridi first took Kyle Mayers’ fort in the penultimate delivery of the third.

Mayers didn’t stay in the crease for long (he scored just three runs) after a bowling prodigy got caught by Shaheen Shah Afridi. A repeat of a previous delivery was shown where Mayers was on the non-forward side when the referee checked that the ball was missing.

A Twitter user shared a picture of the replay, which the reviewer claimed was reviewing the misdelivery.

Babar Azam leads Pak to victory

Pakistani captain Babar Azam (#1 batsman in ODI and T20) became the first cricketer to hit twice in three consecutive centuries in ODI matches. He played a century-long hit of 103 rounds over 107 balls with nine borders and helped Pakistan beat the West Indies by five wickets.

The win gives Pakistan a 1-0 lead in a three-match series and also 10 points in the ODI Super League (a qualifier for the 2023 ODI World Cup). After Azam and Mohammad left in quick succession, Pakistan needed 50 runs for 32 balls, 41 runs from 23 balls. Hushdil Shah He helped Pakistan reach the score of 49.2. He scored three sixes in a row from Romario Shepher’s 47th win. And Mohammad Nawaz reached the final winner six.

Azam had won the Man of the Match award, but handed the award to Khushdil, saying:

“I want to give the award to him for his outstanding shot,” said Azam. “We planned the trade and showed intent that worked in our favour.”
