The news is not new. The default installation of YouTube Music on all Android devices marked the demise of the app. But Google confirms on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 Stopping Google Play Music services from September 2020, first in Australia and New Zealand. The app and web version will no longer be available in other parts of the world from October.
As the manufacturer states, Google Play Music users until December to save and/or transfer their personal libraries, also playlists, downloads, likes and purchases on YouTube Music. In May 2020, the Mountain View company created a tool to migrate its collection to YouTube Music, accessible by launching the app or going directly to Music.youtube.com/transfer.
Then note that in addition to uploading / downloading songs to Google Play Music, it will be impossible to purchase or pre-order titles from the end of August.
Google won’t offer any more music for purchase
As our colleagues on the Engadget site have pointed out, turning off Google Play Music, Removal of all music content available in the Google Play Store. Indeed, and from the end of August it will no longer be possible to buy songs or albums on the Android marketplace. In other words, Google will no longer offer music for purchase, unlike Apple in the iTunes Store or Amazon with Amazon Music.
