Epson L4160 Printer Review: Best Ink Tank Printing

We recently reviewed the Epson L485 printer and were quite impressed with its quality. That printer made me fall in love with Ink Tank printers so much that I went out and bought one for personal use. After using Epson’s printer for a few months, I can easily say that the company produces high quality printers. However, just because I have a good experience with one of Epson’s printers does not mean that all of their printers are of the same quality.

That’s why when we got a brand new printer from Epson, we decided to give it a full review. The printer we will be reviewing today is the Epson L4160 (₹17,799) is another all-in-one Ink Tank printer from Epson that looks really promising on paper. However, does the printer repeat the Epson L485’s success story or does it fall short of our expectation? Let’s find out as we go through a full review of the new Epson L4160 all-in-one Ink Tank Printer:

Epson L4160 Printer Features

Before we begin our review, it’s worth getting the paper specifications out of the way. While I don’t care about specs when it comes to a smartphone review, it makes sense to see everything a printer has to offer. In the end, you will only get a printer that meets your needs and certain criteria. With that point in mind, here are all the features you need to know about the Epson L4160:

Design and Build Quality

Epson L4160 printer is very compact and at first glance it feels like it’s built like a tank. My first impression of the printer remained even when I started using it on a daily basis. I mean, I only got this printer for a few days but boy, I like the build quality. Believe it or not, I shook this printer to see if any of its parts were loosely mounted, but the printer was rock solid. no need to say that I am in love with the build quality of the printer.

I also like the design choices Epson made with the printer’s usability in mind. I mean, there’s a lot you can do with the design of a printer, regardless, I love what Epson is doing here. First, I really like printers with a paper entry on the top as it makes life so much easier. Fortunately, the Epson L4160 uses the same mechanism. I also love it when not in use, paper inlet can be closed preventing the printer from eating unwanted dust.

Coming to the front of the printer, it’s where all your printer controls are located. The buttons are easily accessible and also have a nice click, which I absolutely love. There’s also a 1.4 inch color LCD panel, which is really handy when choosing the print or copy mode., change settings, or access other features you need. You can also easily see the printer’s ink level from the front, which is a small but very stylish addition.

Now that there’s nothing major on the sides, let’s take a look at the back of the printer. The back of the printer has both a power port and a USB connection, both are easily accessible. All in all, I’m really happy with the printer’s design and build quality. I was also impressed that Epson was able to pack so much into such a compact body, weighing just 5.5Kg, which is even lighter than the Epson L485 printer we reviewed earlier.

Connectivity and Compatibility

Like other Epson printers, the Epson L4160 can be connected to your PC or Mac using a number of different connections. first and The most obvious way to connect the Epson L4160 to your device is to use the rear USB port.. Simply connect the printer to your laptop or desktop computer. The best part is that you don’t need to install any drivers. As soon as you connect the printer to your PC or Mac, you’re ready.

If you want to use the Epson L4160 with multiple devices in your home or office, instead of connecting the printer with a cable, Connect the printer to your home or office WiFi and all networked devices will be able to use the printer.. One of my favorite features of this printer is that it allows me to easily use the printer wherever I am in my office. If you want to take advantage of the wireless connection but don’t want to make the printer public on your WiFi, you can use WiFi Direct, which ensures that the printer is only available on devices you’ve masterfully set up. Besides the above three connection modes, the printer is compatible with Apple AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and Mopria Print Services technologies.

You really have many options for connecting the printer to a device of your choice and I don’t think anyone would have a problem connecting and using this printer.

Printing and Performance

To test the print quality of the Epson L4160, I tested the printer using several different images, text with different fonts, and multiple scanned documents and IDs. After testing the printer step by step, I am happy to report that I am really satisfied with the print quality. The text prints were sharp and legible, while the illustrations were very detailed.. However, I used the regular A4 size to print the photos, so I can’t comment on how the printer will perform when you use glossy photo paper. But seeing how well the pictures look on regular A4 size paper, I can only assume they would look better on photo paper.

As for the performance capacity, The Epson L4160 can print approximately 33 pages per minute for black and white prints. If you are using color printing, the printer can print 12-15 pages per minute. As you can see the print speed is one of the best on the market and can easily meet all your home or office needs. Note that both of these speeds were tested using A4 size paper, as the printer only supports borderless printing up to A4 size. This is probably the only warning I can find with this printer. If your official needs require A3 or higher paper size, please do not buy this printer.

Scan and Copy

Since the Epson L4160 is an all-in-one printer, it not only prints documents, but also allows you to scan and copy documents. in my test, it took between 10-20 seconds for the printer to scan a document on par with other printers in its price range. When it comes to copying, the printer is capable of producing 99 copies of a document at once, which is more than enough for most users.

Epson L4160: Great Build with Outstanding Print Quality

When I first started testing the Epson L4160, I had really high hopes and I’m happy to report that the printer lived up to its promises. The build quality of this printer is outstanding and it looks like a device that will last you for years.. The printer also excels at printing both black and white and color documents and images. Its ability to accept both regular and photo paper means it is sufficient to meet the needs of a regular consumer. However, the paper size restriction (only accepts paper up to A4 size) can be a deal breaker for some users.

Epson L4160 vs Competition

Since the Epson L4160 is such a costly printer, we thought of comparing it to other printers in the same price range to see how much more value this printer adds over its competitors. However, I ran into a small problem while doing this. The problem is that if you want to buy a printer with Ink Tank technology, you won’t find anything other than Epson printers in this price range. This makes it really difficult to compare with its competitor because it has no competitor. However, if you don’t care much for Ink Tank tech, there are plenty of good options out there.

The three best printers I could find were: HP LaserJet M1005, Canon MF-4750and Brother DCP-L2541DW printers. They’re all good printers, but none of them are so good that I can put them on top of the Epson L4160 without hesitation. Let us know if you want to see the battle of the best printers, but for now, know that the Epson L4160 is one of the best on the market for its price.
