Language through emojis can be complicated sometimes. There are really several ways to interpret such and such a symbol, depending on the situation. Gboard, the Google keyboard on Android, wants to help you find the best possible according to the situation.
According to Android Police, in an upcoming update the keyboard will integrate a magic wand into the suggestion bar. Press once and an emoji will be integrated into your text, compatible with the words used. Double tap on it and an emoji will appear between each word.
Gboard better integrates emojis into its virtual keyboard
So you won’t have to worry about finding the perfect emoji after typing your message. Note that this isn’t the first feature of Gboard moving in this direction. Indeed, emojis appear it’s already in the suggestions menu if you wish. A silly example: you type “fire” and the keyboard suggests replacing the word with a drawing of flame. This innovation is moving in that direction.
Currently, the update appears to be limited to only a handful of English-speaking users. If you don’t have it, don’t panic. It should arrive in the next few weeks, at worst the next few months. Also make sure you are using Gboard not on your smartphone and a keyboard integrated by the manufacturer.
Emojis have become an important part of our written communication path, and it’s only natural that Google will contribute to their use. This is not the only one. We remember the “discussion” over emoticons in Windows 11. Planned in 3D, they eventually came out in 2D, which disappointed many users. Apple is also very concerned about its emojis, as it is often the first manufacturer to integrate new ones into its products.
In short, a little more patience to take advantage of this new feature of GBoard. It shouldn’t take long.
