Now that we have a summary of OnePlus Explorer’s specifications, let’s talk about the material quality. We have the Slate Black version of the OnePlus Explorer backpack made using High quality nylon fabric marketed as Cordura. It is highly durable and also wear-resistant, making it ideal for bags and the like.
The outer part of the backpack is made entirely of Cordura. Inner lining is 100% Polyester. The texture of the fabric is a bit rough, but it looks great and feels very high quality. The OnePlus Explorer backpack also comes in Morandi Green color option, which is made of 100% polyester both inside and out.

The shoulder straps feature a genuine Dupont Kevlar fiber seam line and thick padding for maximum comfort when the backpack is fully stored. The entire rear surface is also well padded to further increase comfort. Needless to say, the attention to detail taken by OnePlus when creating the Explorer backpack is pretty obvious and commendable.

The adjustable shoulder straps are quite soft, which makes the process of adjusting the position of the bag on the back quite easy, but not so velvety that it loses its grip on the clips. Overall, the OnePlus Explorer back is a top-notch accessory from head to toe, with looks and features that will definitely push it higher on your wish list.
OnePlus Explorer Backpack Design

When it comes to look and feel, the OnePlus Explorer backpack stylish and first class. And that goes forward in design as well. OnePlus has stuck to what we know as the brand, namely minimalist design to the point of being almost utilitarian. Even if, OnePlus Explorer backpack is a stunner. I carried the bag with me for about a week, during which time I received many envious looks from friends and co-workers.
The Explorer backpack has a total of 3 compartments and 8 pockets and to be honest, this number is enough to house all the essentials whether you are a student or plan to use this as your work bag.
The bag features a front flap that closes an L-shaped zipper leading to the main compartment and a single pull loop in OnePlus’ signature red color that adds to the Explorer backpack’s sleek look. But this red pull ring isn’t just a dazzler, as pulling it down unlocks the magnetic clasp that holds the top cap in place.
The application of the magnetic clasp makes it quite convenient to open the bag, as you only need to pull a little to unlock the clasp, while folding the flap along its natural crease causes the magnets in the clasp to snap into place automatically. I tried to verify if the clasp mechanism is just a gimmick and is prone to failure, but it has worked perfectly so far.
Some people may question whether there is a flap with a magnetic clasp that closes the main compartment.?’ To some extent I can agree with that, but this flap is an integral part of the bag’s design and helps it stand out from the crowd of other backpacks with its traditional zipper channel on the top. I actually appreciate what OnePlus has done in trying to set itself apart from other backpacks.
OnePlus Explorer Backpack Capacity
While design and material quality are anything but, the main purpose of a bag is to keep your belongings safe. The OnePlus Explorer backpack is quite roomy; The main compartment has plenty of space, and a few notebooks, files, notebooks and at least a few textbooks or a few novels can be accommodated without any problems.
Below it is the laptop compartment with a strap for holding it. laptop up to 15 inches in place. I can easily place my Thinkpad T470 in the laptop dock despite being one of the thicker laptops out there. The padding on the top surface of the laptop is thinner than the bottom pad, but it can protect your laptop well.

At the top of the main compartment there is also a small pocket where you can store stationery, charger, headphones and power bank as well as other items.

On the front is another small pocket that’s deep enough to easily stow a laptop charger or any other item you want to keep.

At the bottom is a large pocket lined with a water-resistant material that does not allow liquids to leak into other parts of the backpack. This pocket is completely reversible so it can be easily cleaned. It’s great to hold an umbrella or wet shoes.

A notable addition is the circular vent in the corner; this can be quite helpful in draining the water if you put your wet umbrella in it and it also ventilates the compartment to prevent bad odour.

There’s also a small water bottle pocket on the side, but it doesn’t take anything thicker than a soda can or camera lens.

OnePlus Explorer Backpack Availability
The OnePlus Explorer is by no means unreasonable, but if you want your backpack to be comfortable above all else, you won’t be disappointed.
Backpack weighs 860 grams and it has thick padding on the shoulder straps and the entire back surface, which makes it feel great when you wear it.
The padding is lined with breathable fabric so your clothes won’t sweat completely from carrying around in the heat.

OnePlus has also attached a horizontal strap to the back of the Explorer backpack; this means you can easily keep your backpack attached to the handle of your touring bags while traveling.
The zippers are smooth, but you may run into a slight issue when using the OnePlus Explorer as your daily driver. The zipper of the main compartment has an L-shaped design, meaning that it only opens up to the upper right corner of the main compartment and does not open all the way to the left edge. Secondly, the flap in the lower right corner of the main compartment blocks your laptop or files more if you place them on the side.

OnePlus Explorer Backpack: Should I Buy?
The OnePlus Explorer backpack is another excellent offering from OnePlus, but given the price it’s pretty hard for me to recommend it. You have tons of alternatives from brands like American Tourister, Samsonite, JanSport, Wildcraft, Nike, and OnePlus that can match their build quality and materials for a lower price.
The Explorer backpack knocks it out of the park when it comes to design, build quality, and wearer comfort, but I suggest you take a look at the alternatives before spending money on it.
There are too many backpacks out there. But if you want to buy a backpack at Rs. 5,000 price range, Nike Training Max Air (Rs. 4.315), Wildcraft Edition 3 (Rs. 4,799), Victorinox Essentials Gear Pack (Rs. 4,310), CAT Urban Mountaineer (Rs. 3.798) and Skybags TOUR 45 Weekender (Rs. 3.990) are a few notable options and are on the same playing field as the OnePlus Explorer backpack.
However, if you want to buy a backpack without emptying your wallet, Skybags Crew 4 (Rs. 2,999), Xiaomi’s Mi City 16 (Rs. 1,599), American Tourister Helix (Rs. 1750) and Skybags Geek 05 (Rs. 2.054) are great alternatives.
If you have the money, the OnePlus Explorer backpack is definitely worth it.
OnePlus Explorer Backpack Review: Elegant and Expensive
The OnePlus Explorer backpack is a premium offering that ticks all the boxes for great build quality, outstanding design and usability, but all that goodness comes at a hefty price of Rs. 4.990. At this price point, you can find loads of alternatives from reputable brands, but then it all comes down to personal preference. As I said before, this is for fanboys.

| SUMMARY
The OnePlus Explorer backpack is elegant, well crafted, has excellent material quality and even a very eye-catching design. But the hefty price tag makes the OnePlus Explorer backpack a very tough recommendation, especially when you can get better or similar options at a much lower price point.
