Google Photos: This update could screw up your data plan, here’s why

Google regularly updates its most popular services. Regarding Google Photos, the manufacturer has recently added the locked folder on other Android smartphones. This feature allows you to hide your most sensitive photos and remove them from the cloud. This option will soon arrive elsewhere on iOS.

If you are a regular user of the app, you probably know long since it lets you choose whether or not your videos are downloaded via your mobile data.. As a matter of fact, by going to the app settings and in the Backup & Sync tab, you will find another menu of Mobile data consumption. right here, you are free to choose a daily backup limit. Several options are available:

• no data
• 5MB
• 10MB
• 30MB
• No limit
• Backup while roaming

Google Photos: Is this update a bug or not?

As you know, this last option determines whether you want v.our mobile data is used to upload your videos to Google Photos. As Google explains, this daily limit was first introduced in March 2019 for users in India and other countries to give it to themselves”more detailed daily checks for cellular data usage for backup”.

However, as explained by our colleagues on the site 9To5Googleuncheck “a new app update”Use cellular data to backup videos”. In other words, users can only choose a daily limit between 5 and 30 MB. It’s a difficult decision to understand, especially since some users don’t want large videos downloaded on their data plan.

According to 9To5Google, this change could be a bug of google. They tried to contact the web giant to find out if the removal of the video backup controls was intentional. Mountain View company has not made a statement on the subject for now.
