Top 8 Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite Camera Tips and Tricks

The new Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite combines many interesting features such as 48 megapixel sensor, 5 megapixel Macro lens, Scene Optimizer and super stable OIS (SSOIS). In short, the camera is pretty solid for its price. And coupled with its software features, it will definitely captivate the modern photographer in you. That’s why we’ve compiled Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite camera tips and tricks.

As we always like to say, there is more to a phone than specifications. Unless you delve deep into the camera app and its related settings, you’re missing out on a lot of hidden features. Ever since we got the Galaxy S10 Lite, we’ve tested it extensively and compiled the best camera tips and tricks for you.

Lets start.

1. Make the Most of Macro Mode (and SSOIS)

A dedicated macro lens means you can capture the tiniest details of your subjects, no matter how small. However, the custom Macro mode is nowhere to be found on the ribbon. Yes, punk. Like Night Mode, this one is hidden under the More button.

So, if you want to shoot some macros, tap the More button and select Macro from the list.

Does the SSOIS mode sound too good to be true? It’s actually as good as it sounds. Just enable it from the ribbon above and you will see the results soon.

2. Turn on 48MP Mode

The Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite is the first phone in the S-series to have a 48-megapixel camera, and so it only makes sense to use it fully.

But luckily it is not enabled by default and the option is somewhat hidden. But don’t worry, it’s not that hard to bring it.

Tap the Aspect Ratio icon at the top (indicated by 3:4) and select 3:4H from the list. Now, all you have to do is aim the camera and shoot.

3. Enable Motion Photos

I love motion pictures and this is a great feature if you have small children or pets at home. This stylish mod captures the moments leading up to a photo and turns it into a nice little video.

For example, if you point the camera at your kitten, it will start recording a few seconds before you press the shutter button. And the best part is that you have both the photo and the video with you. Is not it beautiful?

To activate it, tap the icon with the little play button at the top and that’s it. From now on, your phone will have a small clip to accompany each photo.

And it doesn’t end there. You can also capture a still frame from the resulting video. In your phone’s gallery, tap the Play Motion Photo tab > Edit.

You will see the whole video. Now set it to the desired location and tap the Photo icon. Yes, it’s that simple.

4. Create GIFs

This is the age of GIFs. You can never have enough GIFs as social media is such a central part of our lives. But with the Galaxy S0 Lite, you can also create GIFs from your own photos. And the best part is that you don’t need the help of any external app for this.

Simply take a series of photos and your phone will automatically convert it to a GIF. Interesting, I would say.

However, you need to enable it first. To do this, go to Settings > ‘Hold the shutter button’ and select Create GIF.

All you have is to change the aspect ratio as you take the photos. GIF mode will not work in 48 megapixel mode.

5. Change Camera Options in Tray

Of course, we love the multi-camera modes that come with the Galaxy S0 Lite. But not every one of them is our favourite, is it? In my case, I rarely use the Live Focus Video mode. Instead, I like to use Macro mode and Food mode.

Therefore, if you want to improve your camera experience, you should group your favorite camera modes. And the good news is that it’s pretty easy to do.

To do this, open the camera app and tap on More as shown in the screenshot below. Then tap the little pencil icon to enter Edit mode.

Now drag and drop your favorite mods into the ribbon below. Slide the less used mods into the tray above.

6. Shooting Suggestions

Not sure about your picture frames? Why don’t you let your phone help you?

Yes, you read it right. Galaxy S10 Lite comes with an option called Shot Suggestions that tells you the correct frame for each of your photos.

This will save you from crooked angles and unsymmetrical photos, and the phone does the right thing most of the time. To enable it, go to camera settings and toggle the Shot suggestions switch.

Once complete, you will see a line and a white speck on your screen. And you’ll need to align your frame to get the perfect shot.

7. Remove FishEye in Ultra Wide Fix

You may already know that ultra-wide cameras tend to flip the fisheye effect. And it is mostly seen in portrait photos. Well, Galaxy S10 Lite gives you a nifty option for its removal.

When enabled, it straightens the curved line, giving the photo in question a more symmetrical look. To enable it, go to camera settings and tap on Save options and toggle the Ultra wide Lens correction switch.

Cool Tip: The HDR option for videos allows you to improve the appearance of the videos. You will find the settings under Settings > HDR (Rich tone).

8. Save images to HEIF

The High Efficiency Image File Format, or HEIF, is a potentially game-changing image format. This new image format is designed to save you storage space. And in this age, when taking pictures with our phones is second to none for us, such formats are a godsend.

Galaxy S10 Lite also allows you to save your photos in HEIF format. However, it is not enabled by default.

You have to manually open the options via Save > HEIF Images.

Keep in mind that while it’s a huge improvement in terms of storage space, it may not work well in all apps, especially some third-party image editing apps.

Luckily, it works with apps like Snapseed and you won’t have any trouble backing up HEIF files to Google Photos as well.

Capture Great Photos

Apart from the above, the Galaxy S10 Lite packs a few great features like AR Emojis and Scene Optimizer that brings the power of AI to the table.
