What Are WordPress Sticky Posts?

sticky posts

Sticky posts are actually a pretty simple concept. If you’re using WordPress as the platform for your blog, you’ve probably noticed that your most recent posts are displayed at the top of the page or blog list. This is the default WordPress setting and it honestly makes sense. Typically, you want your newest content to be displayed first. But sometimes a post you publish is so important that you want to pay a little more attention to it before you let it land in your archive. That’s exactly what the sticky post function is for. By setting a particular post to be sticky, you always have it displayed at the top of your page., regardless of when it was published. That’s why you use the sticky post feature to literally “paste” posts to the top of your blog.

Also, you can “remove” posts at any point when you decide they no longer need to be in such a prominent position. Besides, you can also set multiple sticky posts. All posts you set as sticky will always be displayed at the top of your page or list, and their internal ranking will be determined by the date they were posted. For example, if you want to have three sticky posts, the most recently created will be the first, the second posted before it, and the third oldest sticky post in your list.

As for the purpose of sticky posts, they can include your brand statement, a promotional video, a set of rules you want to make sure everyone understands, or something along those lines. Of course, you can also simply Use sticky posts to ensure your visitors see your best content first.
