How to Add Audio Files and Create a Playlist on Your WordPress Website

The world is full of sounds that affect us in various ways. From elevating our moods or making us cry to keeping us committed to our exercise routine, sounds are an integral part of our daily lives.

Most brands use visual cues to create a specific aesthetic that will make them recognizable. But if you include voices in your marketing strategy, your website will become even more memorable and attractive to viewers.

The best way to organize songs or inspirational podcasts on a site is to create playlists. This way, users can easily browse the featured content, choose what they want to hear, and play the audio file they want for as long as they want. In one of our previous articles, we discussed the best music player plugins you can use on your site. We also showed you how to embed a Spotify playlist on your pages. This time we want to show you how to create a WordPress audio playlist using the platform’s default options in Gutenberg, Classic Editor, and Elementor.

How to Add Audio Files in WordPress

Adding audio files to WordPress takes only a few clicks of your mouse. The platform supports .MP3, .M4A, .WMA, .OGG and .WAV file types.

if Gutenberg your preferred page builder, open the page or post the file where you want to add it. click Add Block and choose Sound.

You can then upload a new audio file, choose one from your media library, or add audio from a URL.

If you choose the first option, you can add a title for the file after the upload is complete. Also, there are options on the right side of the screen that allow you to enable autoplay and loop effects and adjust boot settings.

Metadata can be edited in the media library itself. After selecting the file, you can: change the title, specify the name of the artist and album, add the title and description, and change the URL of the file.

To add audio files classic editorclick on first Add media.

Then select a file from the media library or upload a new one. All editing options are placed on the right side of the screen and are the same as in Gutenberg’s media library.

Inside Workmanyou need to add Sound widget to your page.

Next, load the audio file you want.

How to Create a Playlist in WordPress

At the time of writing this article, Elementor and Gutenberg Do not add a specific widget or block to create an audio playlist in WordPress. And if you don’t want to add any other plugins to your list, there is a workaround.

In both page builders you can add the HTML block/widget to a page or post where you want to display the playlist. Next, paste the following shortcode into the block/widget:

[ playlist ids = "insert_track_ids_here" ]

To find the part IDs, go to: Media > Library. Click on the file you want to feature in the playlist and look for the ID in the address bar at the end of the URL.

Alternatively, with the mouse View Supplementary Page or Edit More Details inside the library.

Then the track ID will appear in the lower left corner of the page.

This activity may take some time if you plan on adding a large number of files at once, but for now, this is the only way to add a playlist in Elementor and Gutenberg.

Now that you know the fragment IDs, add them to the shortcode. Ours goes like this:

[ playlist ids = "449, 453, 454" ]

After you save the changes, a playlist will appear on your site.

Inside classic editoryou must first press Add media button and then click on Create Audio Playlist on the left side of the screen.

Then select the files you want from the library or upload new ones and Create New Playlist button in the lower right corner.

Later Edit Audio Playlist window will appear. You can drag and drop the pieces to arrange them according to your needs and decide whether you want them or not. display a playlist, show artist name in playlist and show images.

And finally, after all the tweaks are done, click on it. Add Audio Playlist.

How to Add Playlist to Sidebar in WordPress

If you want to add a playlist to a sidebar on your site, text Add the widget to the section you want. First, go Appearance > WidgetsFind this widget and select the sidebar area where you want to display an audio playlist.

Next, click Add media and start building your playlist.
