How to Add a Navigation Menu in WordPress

Simple and intuitive menu navigation is one of the key elements of good UX. In this guide, we will show you how to add a navigation menu in WordPress so your users can easily find their way around your website.

How to Create a Navigation Menu in WordPress

From your admin dashboard, navigate to: View > Menus. this Edit Menus The page will open.

First, let’s log in Menu Name.

There is no limit to the number of menus you can create in WordPress, so you can add as many menus as you want.

How to Add Menu Items

The next step is to select the pages, posts, custom links and categories you want to add to the menu from the menu. Menu Items colon. Choose the elements according to your needs and Add to Menu button.

Adding categories to your WordPress menu is especially useful if you run a blog. Categories allow you to group related posts so users can easily navigate to a topic that interests them and find all related posts in one place.

To add a category to your menu categories on the tab Menu Items colon. Select the category you want to add to your navigation menu from the drop-down menu. When you’re done, press Add to Menu.

The categories you selected are now Menu Structure. Drag and drop to arrange them the way you like best.

If you want to add custom links to your menu, Add Menu Items choose Private Links. Inside URL field, paste the link of the page you want the menu item to redirect to, and link text Enter a name for the menu item in the field.

When you’re done, click Add to Menu your menu item when you click the button Menu Structure Episode.

How to Set Menu Position

Now it’s time to set View Location for the menu. This determines where your menu will appear on your website. Available locations depend on the theme you have installed. For example, some themes have a footer menu, horizontal menu, etc. but all have at least one display location.

In Qode Interactive themes you can usually choose from at least three menu locations: Best Browsing, Mobile Navigationand Full Screen Navigation. Depending on the theme you are using, you may have other menu locations.

Simply tick the box (or boxes) next to the menu location in which you want to display your menu. Note that you can add a menu to more than one location if you want.

How to Arrange Menu Items

It will appear under the items you have already added to your menu. Menu Structure, on the right side of the editor. To rearrange the menu items the way you want, simply drag and drop them into the order you want.

How to Create a Dropdown Menu in WordPress

If your site has many pages, you can make it easier and clearer to navigate by setting up drop-down menus, submenus, or nested menus. This allows you to create a hierarchical organization that will make navigating your site more intuitive for your user.

To create a nested menu in WordPress, all you have to do is move a menu item to the right of the menu item. Menu Structure.

To add a menu to your sidebar (or any other widget area), go to: Appearance > Widgets. Name of the widget we are interested in Navigation Menu. Simply drag and drop this widget into the widget area you want to display in it.
