Record Video in PowerPoint Using Screen Recording Feature

Microsoft PowerPoint has a screen recording feature that can be used to record videos. The video can be recorded with or without sound depending on your preference. This feature comes in handy when you need to add an introduction to your presentation.

Note: Before you begin, make sure the speakers and microphone on your computer are working properly. You also need speakers or headphones to listen to your recording.

Stage 1: Start Microsoft PowerPoint.

Step 2: Click the Insert tab from the Ribbon interface at the top.

Stage 3: Select Screen Recording in Media Group. This action opens a popup.

Note: When you select Screen Recording, two of the options you’ll see in the dialog include Recorder Pointer and Sound Options, Microsoft PowerPoint will enable them automatically. However, you can disable these options by clicking on them to turn them off.

Step 4: Click Select Area inside the pop-up window to select the portion of your screen you want to record.

Note: Your cursor changes to + when you select Select Area.

Step 5: Once you have determined the area you want to save, drag your cursor from the top left to the bottom right. You will see a dotted rectangle summarizing the area you selected for the recording. This means that PowerPoint will save everything within the selected area.

Step 6: Simply click the Record button to start the recording. The button is in the popup and has a red circle.

Note: There is always a three-second countdown before recording starts. You can also use Windows key + Shift + R keys to start recording.

Step 7: When you’re done recording your presentation, use Windows key + Shift + Q to stop recording.

Step 8: The recording appears as a new object in your current PowerPoint slide. To save the recording, right-click the object, select Save Media from the pop-up menu.

Step 9: In the next dialog, navigate to the location where you plan to save the recording. Enter the name of the file, then click Save.

Note: The default file type for each recorded video is MP4.

Record Video in PowerPoint Using Save Slideshow

Stage 1: Start Microsoft PowerPoint.

Step 2: Click on the Slide Show tab from the top ribbon.

Stage 3: Select the Save Slide Show option from the Setup group.

Note: You can choose Save From Your Current Slide or Save From Beginning Of Presentation.

Step 4: A new dialog should open with your presentation and other menu options. Select Save in the upper left corner to start saving your presentation.
