Microsoft has managed to run home with its Teams software. It quickly dethroned the competition and became the preferred choice for the large establishments out there. App reliability leaves much to be desired. You may experience Microsoft Teams sign-in failure, screen sharing not working, and connection issues. If you suffer from the latter, read on to fix the connection issue in Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft Teams is the first app open for many users. Application launch connection issues can result in unproductive hours. Let’s fix the problem and start your day with company updates in Teams.
1. Check Wi-Fi Connection
This is one of the biggest reasons behind connection problems in Teams. If your laptop’s Wi-Fi is working, you won’t get a working connection in Teams.
In Windows, open the Settings app (use Windows + I keys) and go to the Network & Internet menu. Make sure the Wi-Fi connection says Connected status and you’re ready.

You can also open a few tabs in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome and confirm a working internet connection on your device.
2. Check Router
If there is a problem with your Wi-Fi router, the internet connection will not work with any connected device, let alone your Windows machine.

You can reboot the router and update the router firmware to the latest version and use a Wi-Fi connection.
3. Run the Internet Troubleshooter
Imagine a Wi-Fi connection that works perfectly on other connected devices and not on your Windows PC.
Microsoft offers a built-in troubleshooter tool to fix internet connection problems on computers. Here’s how you can use it.
Stage 1: Open the Windows Settings app (use Windows + I keys).
Step 2: Go to System.
Stage 3: Select Troubleshoot from the menu below.

Step 4: Click More troubleshooters.
Step 5: Run an Internet Connections troubleshooter and let Windows fix the internet connection on your machine.

4. Stop Other Background Processes
Are you streaming any 4K videos or downloading large files in the background? Such tasks require a good amount of internet bandwidth. This forces Microsoft Teams to deal with low bandwidth on computers.
It can cause connection problem directly from the splash screen. Pause video streaming or downloading in the background and try using Teams again.
5. Clear Teams Cache
Teams collects cache data in the background to make certain tasks faster. You can clear the Teams cache and reconnect to the Teams server. Here’s how.
Stage 1: Press Windows + R keys and open the Run menu.
Step 2: Medicine %appdata%MicrosoftTeams and press Enter.

Stage 3: It will open Teams data files from the File Manager menu.
Step 4: Select and remove all files.

Open Microsoft Teams and hopefully you won’t notice Teams connection issues.
6. Repair Microsoft Teams
Microsoft offers a built-in Repair tool to fix annoying problems with installed applications on the computer. Here’s how you can use it.
Stage 1: Open the Windows Settings app (use Windows + I keys).
Step 2: Go to the Applications menu.
Stage 3: Select Apps & features.

Step 4: Scroll down to Microsoft Teams and select the three-dot menu next to it.
Step 5: Open the Advanced menu.

Step 6: Run the Repair tool for Microsoft Teams and you’re ready to use Teams without any connection issues.

7. Reload Teams
You won’t be able to update to the latest version of Teams from the app itself, as you won’t be able to get around connectivity issues in Microsoft Teams.
Select Apps & features from the Apps menu in Windows Settings. Switch to Microsoft Teams and uninstall the app.

Go to the Microsoft Teams website and download the latest version of Teams to the computer. Open the app, sign in with the account details and you won’t face any connection issues.
8. Use Microsoft Teams Web Edition
Microsoft Teams is also available on the web. You are not limited to using the Teams native app on Windows. You can visit Teams on the web and sign in with the account details.
9. Check Microsoft Teams Status
Still encountering Microsoft Teams connection issues after going through all the above methods? You need to check Teams status on the web.
Connect to Microsoft Teams on Windows
You won’t want to start troubleshooting Teams connection problems on the computer on a daily basis. Follow the steps above and fix Teams connection issues once and for all.
