Cameron Norrie is making a debut in the 2022 season and he started it by winning the Delray Beach Open. He then reached the final of the Mexican Open and reached the quarterfinals at Indian Wells. He won the Lyon Open on the ground, but was eliminated in the third round of the French Open. He later lost to Novak Djokovic in his first grand slam semi-final at Wimbledon and supported him by reaching the final of the Los Cabos Open. He defeated Holger Rune in three sets 7-6(5),4-6,6-4 in the opening round in Cincinnati this week.

This will be their second meeting. Murray is up 1-0 in H2H. They met in Beijing in 2019, where Murray won in three sets.
