Android is known for its customization flexibility. Whether it’s the home screen, app drawer or notification panel; You can customize everything according to your needs. Then why keep the lock screen on your Android phone unchanged? Not like that. You can customize the lock screen in several ways.

On Samsung phones, go to Settings > Lock screen > Screen lock type. On some phones you can find this in Settings > Display > Lock screen. If none of these settings are available, use the search at the top of the settings to search for the lock screen type.

2. Disable Lock Screen

If you don’t like the lock screen, you can disable it by selecting None on the lock screen type. You can also use Swipe without any lock mode by selecting it. Once you do, you will have to swipe the lock screen to unlock it. As you can see, anyone with access to your phone can view its content.

4. Add Message to Lock Screen

The content on the lock screen keeps changing as it mostly comes from notifications. If you want to set a message or text of your own choosing on the lock screen, you can do so.

This is pretty handy if you forget your phone somewhere and a kind soul finds it. Typically, if your phone is locked, they cannot know the owner of the phone. But if you keep your contact information like email id or phone number as a message on the lock screen, they can easily find you.

5. Add User from Lock Screen

Most Android phones manufactured by Samsung support multi-user accounts. With this feature, each user has a separate area on your phone. To add or change users, you typically have to go to User Settings and then add a user. But there is a setting that allows you to add users directly from the lock screen.

To enable this setting, go to Settings > Display > Lock screenshot (check under Advanced) > Add user from lock screen.

6. Disable Notification Content

Your notifications appear on the lock screen even if your device is locked. Some people prefer it this way because they don’t have to unlock the phone to dismiss or view a notification, while others hate it for privacy reasons. Fortunately, you can choose to show or hide all notification content.

To do this, go to Settings > Display > Lock screenshot > Lock screen. Select the required option.

On Samsung phones, go to Settings > Lock screen > Notifications. If you don’t want to show notifications on the lock screen, enable the Hide content toggle. You can also choose the notification style.

Android phones have a feature where your phone stays unlocked when it meets certain conditions. For example, the lock will be disabled when you are at home or the phone is in your hand. This feature is called Smart lock.
