Samsung’s new Galaxy Active 2 smartwatch looks pretty impressive. This new smartwatch builds on the features of its predecessor while having a slimmer profile. Samsung has loaded it with various upgraded features, be it advanced sensors and GPS or innovative digital bezel.
If you bought it recently or are planning to get it this holiday season, here are a few nifty tips and tricks to get the most out of the Samsung Galaxy Active 2.
Samsung Galaxy Active2
If you haven’t bought this great device yet, buy the Samsung Galaxy Active2 from Amazon.
1. Activate the Frame
The aforementioned Galaxy Active 2 has an innovative digital bezel on its edges. Swipe your finger over the black frame to scroll through pages and menus.
However, the smartwatch’s interface does not enable it by default. You will need to enable it. To make changes, open the Settings menu and scroll down to Advanced. Tap on Touch Frame and turn on the switch. This much.

Now all you have to do is swipe slightly from the edges. Is not it beautiful?
2. Hello, My Style!
My Style is one of the new features of Galaxy Active 2. This option allows you to create a watch face based on the color of your outfit. So if you’re wearing pink, simply take a photo of your outfit and your smartwatch will give you a choice of smart patterns.
To enable this watch face, open the Samsung Wearable app and go to the Watch faces tab and tap on My Style under the Wallpaper section. Then tap on the Customize button at the top. Now, the app will offer you several background options.

So, tap on the Camera icon, select the pattern from the available list, that’s it. You have a new watch face for every outfit.

The only catch is that you have to sacrifice other informative watch faces. It looks like an analog clock. That’s why you need to change the Watch type to see your step count or heart rate. Conversely, the watch face is very realistic.
3. Reorder Widgets
As you know that widgets are different from apps, the watch comes pre-installed with a handful of them. Some may be helpful, while others may be a bit too much.

For example, I bought this smartwatch solely for tracking my activity levels and heart rate tracking. Therefore, widgets like calendar or weather (the phone has it, right?) are not important to me.
Fortunately, you can add and even remove widgets (and apps). You can also rearrange them according to your preferences.
For this, open the Wearable and Select Widgets homepage from the list. Tap on the little Remove icon next to the widget you want to remove.

Similarly, scroll down and tap the Plus icon to add your favorite widgets. To rearrange the icons, tap the double arrow icon on the right and drag them to change their order.

If you look at my widget layout, you’ll find the most used widgets in the first half followed by the rarely used ones.
4. Background Style
Do you like the black background of your watch’s menus? If your answer is yes, you can move on to the next tip. But if you want to paint them in different hues, you should take a look at the Background Style option.

For now you can switch between 10 different backgrounds. There are many options, from navy blue to deep violet.
To make the changes, open the display settings on your watch and scroll down until you see Background Style. Choose the one that suits your style and hit the back button a few times to see the magic.

Pro Tip:
5. Activate Always On Display
Always On Display (AOD) is a great feature that comes with most Samsung flagships like the Galaxy Note 10. Now, it graces the Galaxy Active 2. As the name suggests, you don’t have to lift your wrist or touch the screen. The screen just stays lit to wake up the phone.

Quite naturally, this has an impact on battery life. However, the feature is too nifty to be disabled.
To enable it, go to Settings > Display > Always on and turn on the switch. Alternatively, you can enable it from Quick Settings.

Once complete, your watch face will stay lit just like an analog watch. Is not it beautiful?

6. Water Lock Mode
This watch automatically detects and starts recording your activity while you are swimming. However, it does tend to register false touches while underwater at times, and that can be annoying.

In such cases, the best option is to activate the Water Lock mode. When enabled, it disables wake-up gestures and Always On Display. You can find this setting under Advanced settings > Waterlock mode.

7. Keep Distracting Notifications At Bay
When I started using the Galaxy Active 2, I was bombarded with notifications from about 11 different apps. And yes, the situation was chaotic. The phone vibrated even when I got a silly WhatsApp message. There is a simple solution for this – disable notification access of junk apps.
To do this, open the Wearable app and tap Notifications. If you want to completely cut off notification access, turn the switch off.

If not, the trick here is to change the notification settings so that you only get priority ones. To select apps, tap the first option that says ‘Apps to get..’ and select the apps you want.
At the same time, open Advanced notification settings to further tweak these settings. In terms of efficiency, the Smart relay is one of the nifty features out there. It is a smart feature that opens the app on your phone based on notifications.

For example, if you receive a calendar notification on your watch, that app will open on your phone when you pick it up.
8. Tweak Home Button
If you’re not an ardent Bixby fan, you can toggle the home button to trigger actions like Dialer, Calendar, and Find My Phone.
To do this, go to Settings > Advanced settings > Double-click the Home Key. Choose one of the options in the list and that’s it.

The button will be remapped. If finding options from the watch is a bit difficult, you can use the Wearable app to make these changes.
For now, I kept the Home button as a trigger to create the reminder. What about you?
9. Listen to Your Favorite Songs
And here is the most interesting one. Your new Galaxy Active 2 can also be used as a mini music player. You can upload a few of your favorite songs to it, pair your wireless headphones, and go for a ride. No need to carry the phone.
The best part is that adding songs is a very simple process. Open the app and go to Add Content to Your Watch > Add tracks and select the songs. Note that the transfer may take time.

But at the end of the day, you can only store a limited number of offline songs. Fortunately, the Galaxy Active 2 also lets you stream songs from services like Spotify. So, if you want to go for your morning run listening to your favorite tracks (except on your phone), check out the post below.
Watch out!
Galaxy Active 2 brings a few practical features to the table. Auto tracking lets you seamlessly track your runs and walks, while the smart side of the watch helps you stay productive.
