Companies like Twitter and Shopify are letting their employees work from home forever. While working from home, you need to hold digital meetings and attend conferences. Speaking of MacBooks, Apple offers a crappy 720p webcam on MacBooks. Instead, you can always use the front or rear camera of your iPhone or Android phone as a webcam on Mac.

After that, when you join a meeting in Zoom, the software will use EpocCam and show the stream from the phone’s front camera in the meetings.

My EpocCam on Zoom experience has been mixed. While it works fine with live video streaming, I noticed some glitches during long calls. Most MacBooks already come with a quality microphone. So I used the default MacBook microphone from the audio section.

Use EpocCam with Skype on Mac

Skype is one of the oldest video calling solutions. Open Skype and tap the three-dot menu at the top. Select Settings > Audio & Video > Camera and select EpocCam Camera from the menu.

To use EpocCam as a microphone in Skype, go to Settings > Audio & Video > Microphone and select Kinoni Sound Source from the menu.

Use EpocCam with Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams was a surprise hit for the software giant. To use EpocCam with Microsoft Teams, open the Teams app on Mac and tap the profile icon at the top and go to Settings.

Use EpocCam with Google Meet

Google recently made its Google Meet service free for everyone. Yes, you can also use EpocCam with Google Meet.

Google meets epoccam

I used EpocCam for a week on Mac with Google Meet. So far, I have mixed experience with the service. Sometimes it freezes the video stream when you join long meetings.

EpocCam is free to use, but the free version has a few limitations. The base version is limited to 640 x 480 video resolution output. The free app also comes with ads and watermarks. You can purchase the paid version for $8 to remove them; this increases the video output to Full HD, allowing you to use the phone as a microphone.

Use EpocCam Like a Professional

While it is recommended to use EpocCam with Zoom, Teams and Google Meet on Mac, you should use a phone tripod or stand for better stabilization. Continuous streaming will quickly drain the phone’s battery. Keep your phone connected to the power source. Share with us your experience of using EpocCam with these video calling apps in the comments section below.
