You May Soon Delete Stock iPhone Apps

If you hate not being able to delete stock iPhone apps from your device, Apple hears you loud and clear and may allow you to do so at some point in the future.

Apple’s new iOS 9 update will arrive tomorrow for all iPhone and iPad users and will include some brand new features. However, one feature that users can really take advantage of is the ability to delete stock iPhone apps to free up space. Fortunately, this feature may arrive at some point in the future.

iOS comes with several apps included by default. Apps like Weather, Notes, Reminders, Mail and Stocks are all apps that come pre-installed on your iPhone and some of them are useful for many users, but if you are not using stock apps then you’re stuck with them as you can’t delete them from your iPhone.

This is by no means a big deal as you can put all those apps in one folder and put the folder on a different home screen page, but these apps still take up storage space and the folder still takes up an app So being able to delete only stock iPhone apps is a problem many iPhone users have. something he begs for.

during BuzzFeed interview with Cook On the way to the flagship 5th Avenue Apple Store in New York City, the CEO was asked that stock iPhone apps cannot be deleted and whether Apple will allow users to do so on iOS in the future.

“This is a more complex issue than it first appears,” Cook says, and it really depends on how closely some stock apps work with other stock apps, so deleting one will affect other aspects of the iOS experience.

“There are some apps on the iPhone that depend on something else. If they are to be removed, they can cause problems elsewhere in the phone. There are other applications that are not like this. So I think over time, we’ll find a way with those who aren’t. [for you to remove them]. … not because we want to absorb your real estate, but because we are not motivated to do so. We want you to be happy. So I realize some people want to do that, and that’s something we’re looking at.”

Here you got it. Apple CEO Tim Cook is feeling your pain, and the company is looking into that possibility as we speak. Whether it’s okay to delete stock apps is another question entirely, but at least Apple isn’t completely against the idea.

Still, Apple isn’t the only one that doesn’t let their users delete their stock apps. Android is also to blame for this, but the advantage of Android is that you can remove stock apps from the home screen to free up home screen space for other apps. Stock apps will still stay in the app drawer, but they don’t have to stay on the home screen if you don’t want them.

During the interview, Cook also talked about the new iPad Pro and whether it could replace a user’s PC, and for some users it certainly can and has already had it.

“I think some people will never buy computers because we are now at the point where the iPad does what some people want to do with their computers,” he says. But Cook also says the Mac is here to stay for those who still want a computer.
