Taking care of yourself should be the top priority. With technology, tracking your health progress and identifying risks has never been easier – especially if you have an iPhone.
The Health app has evolved significantly since it was first introduced in 2014. Beyond tracking your daily steps, you can now keep an eye on how you’re walking and even add documents to the interface and much more.
In this article, we’re going to identify the top five Health app features you should use on your iPhone. You’ll also discover walkthroughs so you can access each one yourself.
Walking Stability
As part of its fall 2021 iOS 15 update, Apple has released Walking Steadiness, a new feature that tracks how you walk. By looking at these patterns, your device can determine whether you have a high risk of falling.
You can access Walking Stability by going to the Mobility section of your app. To get there:
Stage 1: Open the Health app and tap the Browse tab.

Step 2: Scroll down to Mobility and click this section.

Stage 3: Look for Walking Stability and tap this tab.

At the top of the next window, you will see your walking stability level.

If you want to set notifications, go to Walking Stability Notifications and select Set. After that, follow these steps.
Stage 1: Click Next.

Step 2: In the next window, confirm your age, weight, and height before choosing Next again.

Stage 3: Read the information in the Gait Stability Levels tab before tapping the blue Next button.

Step 4: Confirm that you want to turn on notifications by pressing Turn on.

Step 5: Select Done on the next page.
Gait Asymmetry
In addition to Gait Stability, your iPhone allows you to monitor how you walk in Gait Asymmetry. This way, you can determine if you have underlying conditions (such as injury or illness) that impair your ability to walk correctly.
Like the feature in the previous section, you can access the Gait Asymmetry in the Mobility section of your app. By doing this:
Stage 1: Tap the Browse button at the bottom of your screen.

Step 2: Click on Mobility.

Stage 3: Scroll down to Gait Asymmetry.

This subsection shows your averages for the day, week, month, semi-annual, and year. Switch between them by tapping the gray banner at the top of your screen.

If your gait asymmetry percentage is lower, it means your gait pattern is healthier. On the other hand, if the number on your screen is higher, it’s worth seeking medical attention.
Health Trends
Because each day is different, it’s important to track your health progress over a long period of time. Fortunately, you can do this with the Trends feature.
In this section of the Health app on your iPhone, you can find your average daily steps, stairs climbed, walking and running distances.
To access trends:
Stage 1: Tap the Summary tab under your health app.

Step 2: Scroll down to Trends and click View Health Trends.

Stage 3: Tap each episode you want to view. Like your average gait asymmetry, the day, week, month, etc. You can see how you’re doing on the base.

Sharing
Often times, it’s a good idea to let others know how you are doing in terms of health. And in some cases, you may want to compare your results with friends and family.
With the Health app, you can share how you’re doing in another iPhone user’s app. You can do this with Health Sharing.
After you set it up, the other user will see a summary of your topics. You can also allow them to receive notifications.
To set up Health Sharing:
Stage 1: Select the Sharing tab at the bottom of your screen.

Step 2: Click Share with Someone.

Stage 3: Enter the name of the person you want to share your information with.

Step 4: On the next page, choose whether you want to share or manually select a selection of suggested topics.

Step 5: After setting everything up, click Next. You will have to go through three steps, each of which lets you choose different app features.
Step 6: After setting everything in each subsection, hit Share.

To sleep
Adequate sleep is essential for increasing your productivity. But more importantly, you also need it to keep your mental and physical health in check.
When using the Health app, you can create a schedule and customize your phone to make sure you get enough sleep.
To do this:
Stage 1: Go to the Browse tab and select Sleep.

Step 2: In the Set Sleep window, click the Get Started button.

Stage 3: Select Next on the next page.
Step 4: Set your sleep goal and hit Next.

After you set your sleep goal, you can choose the days you want this program to run. If you scroll down, you can choose to set an alarm.
After customizing them, hit Add.

Step 5: Press Next. You can set the Sleep Focus mode on the screen below. Press Enable Sleep Screen if you want to do this. You will also need to do this to set Wind Down and Shortcuts on the next two screens.

Step 6: After completing all these steps, press Done.
