Temple Run 2 was arguably one of the most popular mobile games of late 2012 and early 2013, and is the successor to the original hit game Temple Run. While we’ve seen plenty of updates over the years, a big holiday-themed “Frozen Shadows” update has arrived for Android, iPhone, and iPad this week.
The original Temple Run from developers Imangi Studios was an immensely popular game that was finally released on Android nearly a year after its success on the iPhone. Then in early 2013 Temple Run 2 became even more popular, attracting Disney to partner with them and more. Those who are still big fans of the endless runner that inspired hundreds of similar games, it’s about to get even better.
Just in time for the holiday season this week, Imangi Studios released another episode for Temple Run 2. It’s called “Frozen Shadows” and it brings a lot of visual and other changes to the hit mobile game. While many have been waiting for an all-new Temple Run game, that will have to do with it for now, and we have all the details and the teaser trailer below.
With millions and millions of downloads, Temple is running mobile games that has been redefined in a sense and gradually gained more and more features over time. The new Temple Run 2: Frozen Shadows has a holiday theme filled with ice, snow and more.
Players will be happy to see brand new surfaces to run on, such as surfing on an ice sled, running through frozen forests, unlocking tons of new clothes or outfits, and we even have a redesigned scary monkey. Of course the monkeys are what we’ve been running from and they’ve been overhauled too.
Now snowy Demon Monkeys will lurk around corners, hiding behind frozen tundra and trees, or waiting for runners to fall on ice skates, hit new obstacles, and more. The video above gives gamers a good idea of what to expect, and it’s definitely a big enough update to redownload this hit game, replay it, or keep the kids entertained for hours at the end of this holiday season.
From the original Temple Run, Temple Run Brave, version 2 and countless minor updates with more features, new outfits and more, the game hasn’t lost its cool.
In fact, this is one of the biggest visual overhauls we’ve seen in a long time, and it will bring a cool but refreshing change to the hit title. If you haven’t uninstalled the game, there are a limited number of outfits and outfits you can collect for all your different characters. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but as we said above, it should be a welcome change for Temple Run 2 fans who want something a little different this holiday season. Try other popular games like Clash of Clans, which is expected to get a big update next week.
