Here’s what you need to know before switching from AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon to Sprint. Sprint has improved over two or three years ago, but there are still catches you need to know.

Are Sprint’s prices and rental plans too good to be true? This is what you need to know before switching from another carrier to Sprint.
Sprint Plans and Options
Here’s what you need to know before jumping into the sprint.
Sprint currently offers three types of plans. You can choose single line plan, family plan or unlimited plan. Or at least that’s how it looks when you start comparing. And then you see that Sprint really has only one plan now.
You can schedule Unlimited as a single line or a family line, with some throttling during congestion and limited access point use.
A single line of the Freedom Unlimited plan on Sprint costs $60 per month for the service. The second line is $40 per month, and the additional lines are $30 each. There are specials that can lower the price of the first line to $50 per month, the second line to $30 per month, and additional lines to $20 per month when promotions are active. This agreement is valid until 30 June 2018 only. After the deal expires, you’ll see an increase of $10 per month on each line, and you’ll still have months of phone payments before you leave Sprint.
While there is really only one Sprint plan, there is a wide variety of Sprint prices.
There are specials that can lower the price of the first line to $50 per month, the second line to $30 per month, and additional lines to $20 per month when promotions are active. This agreement is valid until 30 June 2018 only. After the deal expires, you’ll see an increase of $10 per month on each line, and you’ll still have months of phone payments before you leave Sprint. To get these prices, you must use Direct Debit.
If you go up to four lines, you can get each line for $30 per month, but you’d have to go with four lines to get that price.
You have to pay for your phone, which you can buy directly or pay with a monthly payment plan. If you’re not dizzy, there are also Leasing options and Galaxy Forever options.
Sprint Coverage: What is %1?
Sprint likes to brag that there is only a 1% difference between Sprint and Verizon when it comes to network reliability.
This claim has some important catches. First off, it’s only in the top 106 markets. If you live outside of these regions, be prepared for greater disparity between Sprint and other major carriers in the US.
This does not include the face at Sprint where you can’t talk on the phone and use the internet at the same time. Yes, in 2017.
Sprint Doesn’t Let You Talk And Use The Internet At The Same Time
T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T allow you to talk on the phone and use the internet at the same time. This means you can be on a call, look up an address or a link and then send it as an iMessage to someone or answer a call while using your phone as a hotspot.
Sprint does not support simultaneous voice and data. In 2017, you cannot talk and use your phone’s internet connection at the same time.
If you find yourself doing this on your current carrier, imagine having to hang up, call an Uber or lyft, or send an iMessage, and then call someone back. Now repeat this process every other day and you can see how ridiculous this is.
Sprint Leasing, Galaxy Forever and iPhone Forever
Sprint will rent you an iPhone or Galaxy S8 that you can upgrade after paying 12. Unlike installments, Sprint owns the iPhone or Galaxy device you use. You have the option to pay and buy at the end of the term, but otherwise the device is owned by Sprint.
You can decide whether you prefer this route or pay in installments and you want to pay $5 a month for the early upgrade option. This will be a personal search, but be sure to squash the numbers because Sprint’s plans seem designed to confuse the customer.
Sprint Speed Tests
The speed of the sprint network will vary based on your location, including your proximity to the towers. Sprint speeds will beat competitors in some areas, and in others you’ll see Verizon at the top. It also depends on connectivity to the Sprint LTE Plus or Verizon LTE Advanced networks.
The best thing to do is find a local using Sprint and find out what their coverage is and what their phone’s speeds are.
Doesn’t Degrade Sprint Video Quality
T-Mobile lowers video quality on some plans, and AT&T offers a Stream Saver to reduce video quality. Both of these options let you use less data, but also mean you won’t be watching HD.
Sprint doesn’t offer this to you or force you with an unlimited plan. You get up to 1080P streaming for video, up to 1.5Mbps for music and 8Mbps for gaming.
However, if there is network congestion, you will see data shrinkage in Sprint and the expressions are a magic border 23GB per billing period that Sprint has summarized.
Sprint Personal Hotspot and Tethering
You get 10GB of hotspot data usage per line with the Sprint Unlimited plan. This is in line with what other carriers offer.
When you use 10GB of mobile data in a billing cycle, the speed is reduced to 2G speeds. This is similar to the options of other operators.
Using a 2G internet connection connected to a laptop or iPad for anything but the most basic services will be difficult, so check how much data you’re using before you switch. You will see similar limitations with other carriers.
