Should You Buy an Apple Watch Now or Wait?

The Apple Watch is still going strong in 2016, but the Apple Watch 2 could launch at some point this year, which begs the question: Should you buy an Apple Watch now or wait for the next model to come out?

This is a question that comes up more and more as we enter 2016, mostly because Apple is famous for releasing a new version of a product every year. However, we’re not entirely sure what Apple’s plan is for the Apple Watch release cycle, with many people now wondering whether to buy an Apple Watch or just wait for the Apple Watch 2 to come out.

That’s a valid question and one that gets asked every year with the iPhone and iPad around six months old when the devices are still fairly new, but a newer version is just around the corner.

If you’re in the market for an Apple Watch but aren’t sure whether to buy it now or wait a while until the Apple Watch 2 comes out, here are some things to keep in mind when making your decision.

Apple Watch Price

A great reason to buy an Apple Watch now is if it’s old enough to easily find a used model for really cheap on eBay or Craigslist, and if you keep your eyes peeled, you can find a good deal on a brand new model.

Recently, Target and Best Buy put the Apple Watch on sale for $100 in all models, allowing buyers to pick one up for as little as $250, which is a really good price for an Apple Watch. If you can get one for that cheap, I don’t see any issues with buying an Apple Watch right now and upgrading to the Apple Watch 2 once it’s released.

Of course, not every user wants to buy a device and upgrade immediately afterward, as many users only upgrade when needed and keep the device for as long as possible, so if you buy the Apple Watch now, you probably won’t upgrade. Upgrade to Apple Watch 2 as soon as it comes out, but you got your Apple Watch at a great price.

There’s Nothing Wrong With Waiting

I know you really, really want an Apple Watch, and have wanted it since day one, but if you’ve waited this long, you can probably wait a little longer.

Also, waiting until the Apple Watch 2 launches gives you time to save up more money to buy, and will likely allow you to only get the shiny stainless steel version instead of the entry-level Apple Watch Sport. This is what I did with my iPhone; Instead of upgrading every year, I usually keep it bi-annual and shoot for the iPhone Plus model with 64GB of storage.

If You Want a Better Product, Wait

The Apple Watch is a good product as it stands right now. It works pretty well and does the job. Sure, there are a handful of bugs and performance issues, but this is a first-gen product and most first-gen products don’t knock it out of the park on their first hit.

The Apple Watch 2 will undoubtedly come with a generous performance boost, as with every new iPhone, and we’ll likely see some new features as well.

This means that if you absolutely want a well-performing Apple Watch, it might be best to wait for the Apple Watch 2.

As for when the Apple Watch 2 will launch, it’s not yet officially known, but some rumors point to a late 2016 release date. both TechCrunch and 9t05Mac They said a new Apple Watch could arrive in September of this year.

Also, Apple is expected to hold an event next month to discuss the Apple Watch, but we’ll likely never see anything about the Apple Watch 2. a new WatchOS update.

There’s nothing wrong with waiting for a new Apple Watch to come out, and like I said, if you’ve waited this long to buy an Apple Watch, you can probably wait a little longer for the Apple Watch 2 to come out.

However, if you’re looking to buy one now, now is the time to buy an Apple Watch, as you can choose from cheaper used units and take advantage of the occasional Apple Watch deals.

Of course, there’s also nothing wrong with buying an Apple Watch now and then upgrading again when the Apple Watch 2 is released, but that will depend on whether the new features are good enough to warrant such an upgrade.
