iOS 9.1 on iPhone 6: Impressions and Performance

The iPhone 6 iOS 9 update has treated my device pretty well for the most part. I ran into a few issues but nothing major. I was hoping for more from the iOS 9.1 update and additions.

After some preparatory work, I installed the iOS 9.1 update on iPhone 6 and for the last 12 hours, I’ve been using the software on the old flagship. Before moving on to performance, I would like to touch on the installation process.

iOS 9.1 Installation

The iPhone 6 iOS 9.1 update is much bigger than the iOS 9.0.1 and iOS 9.0.2 updates that came before it. Its size is well over 200MB, so make sure you take some time to download and install the software properly.

From start to finish, it took me about 12 minutes to download and install the software on my iPhone 6. I downloaded it over an extremely fast connection and results will vary based on your connection speed.

Loading time will also depend on which iOS version you’re coming from. I upgraded from iOS 9.0.2 to iOS 9.1. If you’re coming from iOS 8, the file will be larger and therefore take a little more time to complete. Make sure you are ready before making the jump.

iOS 9.1 on iPhone 6 Performance

Apps

I was clipping my apps and now I’m down to about 65 apps on my iPhone 6. In my time with iOS 9.1 I haven’t used all of them but I have used many and here is what I found. found.

All my core apps are working. The apps I use the most include Asana, Slack, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Gmail, Hangouts, Chrome, Dark Sky, Amazon, SoundCloud, Spotify and Xbox One Smartglass. They all behave, including Chrome.

I haven’t noticed any weird bugs or frequent crashes, but these can devour my iPhone 6 at any time. Chrome started crashing with great regularity a few days after the iOS 9.0 and iOS 9.0.1 updates, so I’m not out of it yet.

I’ve kept all my apps up to date with the latest bug fixes and support updates, so if you run into problems, I recommend calling them. If these don’t help or have bad reviews, try reinstalling the app or restarting your iPhone. This may help.

If nothing works, contact the developer and detail the issue so they can fix it in a future bug fix update.

iOS 9.1 Battery Life

I can’t talk about long-term battery life yet, I’ve only been using the official iOS 9.1 update for a few hours, but what I can tell you is that I haven’t yet encountered any abnormal battery drain during my battery life. time with the upgrade.

I’ve been using my iPhone 6 almost non-stop since its release yesterday and it’s been going well. Both in use and in standby mode. I also keep a close eye on my battery usage in Settings and haven’t seen any services or apps running. At least not yet.

I’m testing my iPhone 6 and iOS 9.1 update with various Bluetooth devices. To be precise, speakers and headphones. So far, I haven’t had any problems pairing the phone and its new software with my devices.

I haven’t noticed anything out of place on my iPhone 6s, while my iPhone 6s is experiencing weird keyboard lag. This doesn’t mean there are iOS 9.1 issues on board, it just means I didn’t notice it. them yet.

The same goes for my colleagues. None of them have seen major or minor issues in the hours since iOS 9.1 was released.

iOS 9.1 comes with a bunch of bug fixes for iOS 9 issues, but it will also bring its own collection of issues to iPhone users. That’s why I recommend doing some preparatory work before your installation.

Speed

In the weeks leading up to iOS 9.1, the little birds were telling me good things about the iOS 9.1 update and its performance. They weren’t lying.

iOS 9.1 performance on iPhone 6s is excellent. iOS 9.1 performance on my iPhone 5 is game changing. And iOS 9.1 performance on the iPhone 6 mirrors both. The UI is fast, fluid, and stable, and that’s all you can really ask for from a landmark update.

Should You Install iOS 9.1 Right Now?

There’s a lot to love about iOS 9.1. Fixes some annoying iOS 9 issues. It offers some useful features, including new emojis. And it works well on iPhone 6 models that we’ve been walking around the office with. This is a great update and one worth considering right now.
