The Apple Music app was exclusive to iOS users until 2015. Then Apple opened the app to the entire Android ecosystem. However, just like iOS, some Android users also encounter some problems and errors while using Apple Music. Some of these errors are general and some are specific to Android users only.
According to research, these issues are usually caused by system errors, network-related complications, and sometimes application-specific bugs. Fortunately, they can be easily repaired. If you are having problems using Apple Music on your Android smartphone, refer to the solutions listed in this guide to fix the issues.
1. Update Apple Music
No matter what problem you are facing with Apple Music on your Android smartphone, the first thing we suggest you check is if you are running the latest version. App updates introduce new features and also fix bugs that prevent Apple Music from working at its best.
2. Force Stop Apple Music
Force-stopping an app is a valid method of fixing a malfunctioning app. If Apple Music is up to date but the app still crashes or doesn’t work at all, you should force stop the app. Follow the steps below to force stop Apple Music on your Android smartphone.
Stage 1: Open the Android Settings menu and select “Apps & notifications”.
Step 2: Next, tap on ‘See All Apps’.
Stage 3: Select Apple Music.
Step 4: On the app info page, select Force Stop.
Step 5: Tap OK at the confirmation prompt and this will stop the app.

3. Reboot Phone
If force-stopping Apple Music doesn’t work and the problem is still there, restart your phone. This will refresh your phone’s operating system and clean any (corrupted or damaged) system or temporary files that are causing Apple Music to malfunction.
Press and hold the power/lock button on your phone for 3-5 seconds and tap Restart.
When your phone boots up again, open Apple Music and check if the app is now working properly.
4. Update Android OS
In addition to updating the app, you should also check your device’s compatibility with the Apple Music app. According to Apple, you need an Android device running Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system or newer to use the Apple Music app. If your smartphone is running Android v4.4 Kitkat OS or earlier, updating your device’s operating system is the best option for Apple Music to run smoothly.
To update your Android smartphone’s operating system, go to Settings > System > System Update.
5. Clear Apple Music’s Cache
If the Apple Music app on your Android device crashes intermittently, clearing the app’s cache can help fix the problem. Users who do not play songs or load their music libraries on Apple Music have cleared the app cache and brought the app back to normal. You should try this and check if Apple Music is now working on your device.
Open the Apple Music app info page (Settings > Apps & notifications > All Apps > Apple Music) and select ‘Storage & cache’. Then tap on Clear cache button to clear app cache data from your device.
6. Check Network Connection
Some glitches in the Apple Music app can sometimes be caused by underlying issues like poor network connection. For example, if the downloaded tracks are not playing on your Apple Music, the problem is most likely network related.

7. Clear Data of Apple Music
Clearing the data of the app is an effective solution, as expressed by some users who are experiencing problems with Apple Music not working or playing songs (downloaded or not) on their Android smartphone. However, you should keep in mind that you will have to install the Apple Music app from scratch and you may lose some of the downloaded/offline music and other related data.
To clear data of Apple Music, long press the app icon on the homepage or app tray and tap the info (i) icon.
This will take you to the Apple Music information page. Next, select “Storage and cache” and tap the Clear Storage icon.
After that launch the app and check if all the features are working properly.
