Apple is developing a connected ring that can control devices remotely

Apple dreams of a connected ring that lets you control devices with gestures

Note that Apple doesn’t just refer to its creation as a “ring”. The term occurs only 5 times in documents filed with the US Patent Office. As shown in the diagrams, this device is sometimes defined as a thimble that slides off your fingertip. In this case, the fingertip is completely enclosed inside the accessory. At this stage, it seems that Apple is not stuck with the final design of the device.

The user does not need to press the physical buttons on the ring to remotely control the devices. Apple does not allow physical buttons on an accessory of this policy. “ineffective” and they “Usually limit the ways a user interacts to generate control signals”.

Instead of physical keys, Apple wants the user to be able to: remotely control devices using finger gestures. In particular, the Cupertino company imagines that the user watches a number in the air with his finger to control a terminal.

Optionally unclear, Apple doesn’t specify which devices can be controlled with the ring. To support it, it is assumed that the company develops innovative solutions such as the connected ring. launch of virtual reality headset or Apple Glass-connected glasses.

This isn’t Apple’s first patent filing for a connected ring. In recent years, many of the brand’s patents have described tethered rings that can work in synergy with the iPhone. Pending official information, there is no indication that Apple really intends to.take advantage of this linked ring idea. It is not uncommon for the American group to patent technologies without ever integrating them into products, only to secure their inventions.
