An iOS 9 jailbreak was released last month, and while iOS 9.1 spoiled the fun, that doesn’t mean the iOS 9 jailbreak is dead. Here are seven useful iOS 9 Cydia tweaks you should check out.
Just a month after Apple first released iOS 9 to the public, an iOS 9 jailbreak was released, making it one of the fastest jailbreaks we’ve seen for a major version of iOS. However, the fun spoiled pretty quickly when iOS 9.1 was released just a few weeks later.
Since then, we haven’t seen a new jailbreak version that supports iOS 9.1, and that probably won’t happen if iOS 9.2 comes out soon enough, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Pangu jailbreak dev team release an iOS one. 9.1 jailbreak at some point.
In any case, those who are still on iOS 9.0 can jailbreak their devices, and if you’re still on iOS 9.0 you’ve probably jailbroken your iPhone, as that would be one of the logical explanations for why you are. still in an old version.
If you’re sailing with your jailbroken iPhone but looking for more tweaks to play with, here are seven useful iOS 9 Cydia tweaks you can enjoy.
auris
If you listen to a lot of music on the go, you’ll want to try Auris.
Auris lets you set your favorite music and audio apps, so when you plug in your headphones, a list will automatically pop up allowing you to choose which music app to launch.
While the activator can do the same thing, it’s a bit more difficult to set it up to do something like this, whereas Auris is a tweak that will do all the dirty work for you to get this ability.
Auris costs $1.99 on Cydia, but it’s a tweak worth buying.
Report Tag
If you’re not a big fan of the hard red colored badge icons, there is an alternative you can take advantage of.
Label Notify is a new jailbreak tweak that replaces the name of the app icon with the number of notifications you have for that particular app.
You can also change the style of the labels if you want to completely customize the look. It’s a tweak that isn’t for everyone, but for those who hate the bright red circle badge that appears on app icons, this is a good alternative on Cydia for just $0.99.
SwitcherTweak Pro
iOS 9 comes with a brand new app switcher that changes how you navigate between apps, but if you want to customize it and make it your own, there’s a Cydia tweak for that.
SwitcherTweak Pro is a new jailbreak tweak that lets you take control of the iOS 9 app switcher. You can change the scrolling direction as well as the spacing between each app.
You can also hide app icons and stickers in the app switcher or change the shape of the app icon if you want. You can even change which way you swipe an app to force close it.
Overall, it’s a highly customizable tweak that lets you do a lot of cool things with the iOS 9 app switcher.
Safe Alarm 2
Want more customizable features for your alarm clock? This is where Safe Alarm 2 comes in handy. The original Safe Alarm setting was really nice, but it has now been updated for iOS 9.
With Safe Alarm 2, you can simply change the volume of your alarms and even make the volume decrease slowly when it rings in the morning instead of starting it loudly.
You can also have alarms turn off automatically after a certain period of time; this can come in handy if you are playing music as your alarm and have it keep ringing even after you wake up, but have it go off after a certain time.
Safe Alarm 2 costs a few bucks on Cydia, but it’s worth it in the long run.
Bluetooth Devices Renamer
Do you know that the Bluetooth devices you connect to your iPhone are never properly named? Usually they just confuse numbers and letters. You can easily change this with a new tweak.
Bluetooth Devices Renamer, while it doesn’t make much of a name for itself, is a dead simple tweak that does a job really well. It allows you to change the device name of a Bluetooth device you have connected to your iPhone.
Therefore, instead of seeing a complex device name consisting of random letters and numbers from time to time, you can change it to a simpler one like “Headset”.
BytaFont 3
If you don’t like the default San Francisco font in iOS 9, you don’t have to deal with your jailbroken iPhone. Instead, you can change the font as you see fit.
BytaFont has been around for a long time, but it was recently updated for iOS 9 and you can download the third iteration right now.
WinterBoard is also a tweak that lets you change fonts, but mostly focuses on general iOS themes, while BytaFont only focuses on changing the font on your iPhone.
In any case, BytaFont 3 can be downloaded for free on Cydia.
Pegasus
A big feature in iOS 9 is Picture-in-Picture Mode, which some iOS devices can take advantage of. However, it only works on iPad, so if you want to use the new feature on iPhone, you’re out of luck.
This is true unless you download a tweak called Pegasus that enables Picture in Picture Mode on any iOS device that doesn’t officially support the feature. This means you can use Picture in Picture Mode on your iPhone and it works the same way as picture feature.
However, it’s a tweak that costs $2.99 in Cydia, so if you want this feature, you’ll have to pay a few bucks for the privilege.
