As we enter December, Apple’s iOS 11.1.2 update continues to prevail.
The iOS 11.1.2 update isn’t as exciting as the iOS 11.2 update the company received in beta testing, but it’s important for iPhone X users.
While the update focuses on fixing iPhone X issues, it is available on all iOS 11 supported devices. The next time you check your iPhone 7, iPhone 6, or iPhone 5s, you might notice the iOS 11.1.2 update lurking in your settings.
If you’re coming from iOS 11.1.1, the latest version of iOS 11 is minor. It’s only 51MB for iPhone X users and a few megabytes for other iPhone and iPad models.
If you’re coming from iOS 11.1 or earlier, your iOS 11.1.2 download will be much larger thanks to the updates you skipped in the meantime. Features, fixes, and patches in these updates are added to your iOS 11.1.2.
iOS 11.1.2 may be minor, but it’s an important release and today we want to tell you everything you need to know about the current version of iOS 11.

iOS 11.1.2 Review
If you want to download iOS 11.1.2 right now, you shouldn’t face any problem. We have not heard of any abnormal download times or issues with the installation process.
If you’re upgrading from Apple’s iOS 11.1.1 update to iOS 11.1.2, the download will take seconds. Again, iOS 11.1.2 is a minor update, only a few MB for most devices.
Installation took about 5 minutes on these devices. If you’re using an iPhone 6, iPhone SE, or iPhone 5s, it may take a little longer.
If you are migrating from an older version of iOS 11 or iOS 10, your iOS 11.1.2 download size will be much larger and installation will take much longer.

We are currently running iOS 11.1.2 on the iPhone X, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, iPhone SE, iPad Air, iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 2. few weeks now.
Battery life currently stands on all these devices. We did not notice any abnormal discharge during our short stay on iOS 11.1.2.
Connectivity (LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) is also strong and reliable on our iPhones and iPads. We have successfully paired these devices with our routers and Bluetooth devices and have not noticed the disconnections.
Most of these devices are fast with iOS 11.1.2 built-in, but we noticed lag when opening apps, Control Center and Notifications. We saw the most lag on the iPhone 5s and iPad mini 2.
We haven’t had any catastrophic issues (at least not yet) with our core apps, which include Asana, Slack, YouTube, Spotify, Dark Sky, Chrome, Gmail, and Podcasts.
As of now, iOS 11.1.2 appears to be stable, but that may change as we move further from the release date. If you have an older device or are using an older version of iOS, you will want to proceed with caution.

iOS 11.1.2: What’s New
There are no new features or security patches in the iOS 11.1.2 update. Instead, it focuses on fixing two known issues on the iPhone X.
Apple’s changelog lists two bug fixes. One of them is a fix for an issue where the iPhone X screen was temporarily unresponsive to touch after a rapid temperature drop. We had this issue when using the device in cold weather and did not notice the issue when running iOS 11.1.2.
The update also addresses an issue that could cause corruption in Live Photos and videos taken with the iPhone X. If you’ve noticed this problem, you probably want to install iOS 11.1.2 on your new iPhone.
iOS 11.1.2 Issues
iPhone and iPad users are encountering various iOS 11.1.2 issues.
iPhone and iPad users complain of setup issues, issues connecting to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and running out of battery life.
We’ve also heard about an abnormal amount of lag, crashes and freezes, loading issues, and issues with various first- and third-party apps. There’s also a new autocorrect bug plaguing hundreds of iOS 11 users where one device changed “it” to “this”. We did not encounter any problems with any of our devices.

If you start noticing problems with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you can downgrade from the iOS 11.1.2 update for a limited time.
Apple is currently logging out of five versions of iOS 11: iOS 11.0.1, iOS 11.0.2, iOS 11.0.3, iOS 11.1 and iOS 11.1.1. This means that if the maintenance update is adapting to your device, you can take advantage of a loophole and downgrade from iOS 11.1.2. Downgrading to an older version of iOS 11 can improve your device’s overall performance
Unfortunately, Apple has shut down iOS 11.0 and iOS 10 downgrades, which means there’s no return to iOS 10 or the initial release of iOS 11.
The company will stop logging out on older versions of iOS 11. Those considering a move will need to act quickly, as there will be no advance announcements.

iOS 11.1.2 Jailbreak Status
The developers have mocked iOS 11 jailbreaks, but nothing is available for iOS 11.1.2.
Jailbreak developers recently cracked an iPhone X running iOS 11.1.1. Proof-of-concept is great news, but it doesn’t mean a public release is just around the corner.
As of now, iPhone and iPad users must be running iOS 10 to jailbreak an iOS device. Unfortunately, there is no way to upgrade to iOS 10 or iOS 9.

Apple’s iOS 11.1.2 update fixes some annoying issues, but it’s far from perfect. Unfortunately, Apple has not confirmed an iOS 11.1.3 update or an iOS 11.2 release date.
The company currently has only one known iOS update in the pipeline. Apple has confirmed an iOS 11.2 update for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and is currently in beta for all iOS 11 supported devices.
Apple has not announced an official iOS 11.2 release date. We originally thought it would arrive alongside the HomePod speaker in December, but Apple has pushed the HomePod launch to 2018.
iOS 11.2 also includes performance improvements, Apple Pay Cash, and bug fixes for persistent iOS 11 issues. If you’re struggling with iOS 11.1.2 or any other version of iOS 11, it should be on your radar.
