Here’s a list of common PSN problems and fixes that you should try before calling Sony or giving up for the night.
PSN Down?
The most common PSN problem is PSN is down. If you see the error CE-33991-5 on your PS4 or PS3, the entire network may be down.
you can check PSN Status Page and excitement To see if there are any PSN issues currently occurring. Both are updated frequently. The PSN Status Page will detail specific issues and restrictions, including gameplay, seeing trophies, and other social features.
How can I see if PSN is down?
It’s a good idea to check your Internet connection to see if this is the problem, especially if the above pages don’t show any major issues. On PS4, follow and follow the onscreen instructions to make sure the console can be online.
Unfortunately, in this situation, there is nothing to do but wait. You can try restarting your PS4 and networking gear, but if there’s a known outage this isn’t something you can fix.
How to Fix Unable to Connect to PSN Error
The Could Not Connect to PSN error can be caused by a local Internet connection problem, not by the PSN being turned off. This may also be the reason why you cannot sign in to PSN.
Check if your PS4 can connect to the Internet. If that fails, you should unplug your router and modem for a few minutes and turn off the PS4. Turn on the modem, then the router, then your PS4 to see if that fixes your connection.
How To Fix PSN Lag
When you can connect to PSN, you may experience lag when playing online games. There could be several reasons for this, so we’re going to present a few fixes.
Make sure you are connected to your WiFi and you may need to move your router.
The first problem is that your WiFi connection may be weak. In this case, you may need a new router, or you may need to move your router and console closer together. Walls and floors can degrade speed and signal.
If this doesn’t fix the problem, you may need to set up a wired Ethernet cable connection to your PS4 or PS3. This will take some time and you will need to find a way to hide the cable if it is permanent, but this can fix many PSN issues like in-game lag and disconnections.
In order to play Destiny and other first-person shooters reliably, I needed to plug an Ethernet cable into the basement.
You may also need to call your Internet provider and purchase a faster plan. Before doing that, you should try the steps above and make sure no one is streaming videos or downloading large files when there is lag.

If you see PSN Login Failed while testing your internet connection, the problem is most likely PSN Maintenance related. If you are seeing the error code CE-33992-6, it is definitely due to PSN maintenance.
The only fix for this is to wait until the work on the PSN is complete. You can check the status page or Follow @AskPlaystation on Twitter for additional details.
Share I can’t join the game
The PS4 Share Play feature lets you play a game owned by a friend or play with a friend using a copy of the game. If you see error NP-37668-0 or other similar message and a quick message that says “You cannot join Share Play because your network connection speed is low”. There are some steps you can take.
Sony recommends at least 2 Mbps Internet connection, which you should check with your Internet provider.
The first thing to try is to run an Ethernet cable to your PS4. If this allows you to connect, you’ll know it’s a local issue. You can also try moving the WiFI router and PS4 closer. Pause all downloads and streams on your home network as well.

How to Play PS4 Games Offline
Make your PS4 the primary console to play offline PS4 games.
If the PSN is turned off, you may have trouble playing digitally purchased PS4 games, but you can fix this so that you can always play your games, at least offline.
The PSN network must be online to do this, so you’ll need to remember to do it later. PS4 prompts users to perform this step when setting up the console, but it’s not something everyone remembers to do.
Go to on your PS4. This will allow you to play your games even with PSN turned off. It also makes it easy to sync new downloaded games and content to your console.
PSN Reward Data Not Syncing
If you see a Trophy error or your PlayStation Trophy data gets corrupted, you should try to sync Trophy data manually or delete your user and restart the user.
When you see a Trophy error, go to If that doesn’t work, you can delete the user in it and create a new user to restore the data.
If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to follow Sony’s more detailed instructions;
Stage 1: Back up saved data using USB device or PS+ online storage. Then go to [Settings] > [Users] and delete the user.
Step 2: Recreate the user and login. Transfer the saved data back to PS4 and try Trophy sync again.
Stage 3: If the error persists, go to: [Settings] > [Initialization] > [Initialize PS4] > [Quick] and try to start PS4.
Make sure you back up your data to be safe.
How To Fix Cannot Go Online After PS4 Update

If you are experiencing random PSN problems and issues not described above, you must restart all your network equipment.
Unplug the router and modem and then turn off the PS4. Leave all this for at least a few minutes. Sony recommends five minutes.
After this time, turn the modem back on, then your router. Once both of these are online, turn on your PS4 and try connecting to the PSN again.
