Manually Install Android 4.0 for Nexus S 4G

Last week, Sprint started rolling out Android 4.0 for the Sprint Nexus S 4G. The problem is that many users still haven’t seen the update arrive for installation. Luckily, there is an easy way to manually install the update without having to delete anything on your phone.

a user on Android Central forum found the update on Google’s servers today, which means users of Sprint’s Nexus edition can now get the update and upgrade the device’s software.

It also means owners won’t have to wait for Sprint and Google to push the software onto the phone.

This process should work for all Nexus S 4G owners regardless of radio or Android version.

First, you will want to download this file directly from Google.

After downloading the file, follow the steps below.

1) Rename the file you just downloaded. It’s not update.zip.zip or anything. Update.zip again.

2) Move this file to the device’s /sdcard directory.

3) Restart your phone.

4) While your phone reboots, press and hold the volume up button and power button.

5) Choose Recovery.

6) The phone will now reboot into Recovery mode. If an exclamation point and a triangle appear on the screen, everything is fine. Now you will want to press the volume up and power buttons again.

7) Select when prompted.

8) Restart your phone.

9) Try Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

This much.
