Build Discord Watch Together
1. Join a Discord audio channel on your server and look for the new rocket icon next to the screen share icon.
2. Click on the rocket icon and you will see the following option. start a new ‘Watch Together’ session. Contrary to what you see in the picture below, you will not see games like Poker Night and Chess in the Park on your server. Because these games are not yet fully released.
3. Discord will now encourage you to review YouTube’s terms of service and privacy policy. When finished, click ‘Continue’ to proceed further. As stated on this screen, You will see ads while watching YouTube videos on Discordeven if you have a YouTube Premium subscription.
4. Next, you will see another popup to authorize Watch Together. Click ‘Authorize’and you’re ready to start an official YouTube watch party on Discord.

1. If you want to join an existing YouTube watch party on Discord, all you have to do is turn on the server, hover over the audio channel and click ‘Join the Event‘.
2. You can also invite presenter members to watch party. To do this, Click the ‘Invite to Event’ button from the lower left corner of the screen.
3. On the invite screen, you can search for your Discord friends or copy the event invite link and manually paste it into the chat.
How to Use with Discord Watch
Now that you know how to start and join a YouTube watch party on Discord, take a quick look at how to use the feature.
1. When you start the YouTube co-watch session, you will see three sections: a search box, trending videos, and a thumbnail preview of the participants.
2. You can search for the YouTube video you want to watch with your friends from the search box on Discord. Here you also have the option to directly paste the YouTube link of the video you want to watch. From the search results page, click ‘+’ icon to add video to queue.
3. By default, the person creating the Watch Together session on Discord will have the remote control. with remote control, you can control video playback, pause video for everyone and select and clear videos. Changes you make here will be synced and will apply to anyone watching with you.
Now, you must be wondering – how can you share the remote while watching YouTube videos on Discord? If you want to share the remote control, turn off the button below the video queue. It will change from red to green.
4. It is important to note that: when sharing remote control anyone can select and clear video. However, no one (including you) can pause the video for the group. Also, the video quality preference is not synchronized in either case.
