The developers at XDA Developer’s Forum released a root method for the Kindle Fire within a day or two of its release, but as we’ve reported, it’s breaking the Amazon Prime video service. I predicted that there would be a fix soon, and it looks like someone had already found a workaround until the fix actually showed up.

The method involves rooting your device first and then installing Android Market on Fire. After installing Marketplace, look for an app called OTA RootkeeperFrom VooDoo.
This app will temporarily disable Fire so you can run the Fire video app and buy videos or watch free Prime content. Once you restart your fire it will root again, all great, but with limited fun at this point.
In other words, the ability to download Market apps, but not much yet.
I’m not going to root my Fire yet, so I haven’t tried this yet. If you do, let us know how well it worked in the comments below.
