A new Snapchat update lets you create your own Snapchat GeoFilters for a party or business to add a cool look to your Snapchat photos and videos when you’re in a specific location.
This guide will show you how to use Snapchat geofilters to add a custom layer on top of your photo or video before sharing a Snap. You can even combine them with Snapchat Lenses and other features that can help make your creations stand out.
Snapchat geofilter can only be used in a certain area. It can be a very small area or it can be several blocks. You must be in that region to use the Snapchat geofilter. We currently don’t know of a way to trick Snapchat into allowing you to use a geofilter from elsewhere.

The Snapchat geofilter tool isn’t new, but the option to make your own for as little as $5 is brand new. You can follow the instructions at. Snapchat Design Center to make your own custom geofilter. You choose the design, the location, and then buy it for $5 or more. Keep in mind that Snapchat takes a day to review your post before you publish it.
How to Use Snapchat GeoFilter
Using a Snapchat geofilter to spice up your photo is very simple. You can do this on iPhone or Android, and using a geofilter is free. If you want to use it in addition to Snapchat Lens, make sure you use it first.
Take a photo or video on Snapchat and you’ll now be ready to apply a Snapchat geofilter.
You can apply multiple filters to Snapchat photos and videos, but in our experience you can only geofilter one.
Swipe from left to right and you will see the Snapchat geofilters available. In our case there are only two. Once you find the one you want to use, you can send the Snap.
If you also want to stack a filter or other Snapchat options, you can do so by holding down the screen with one finger and swiping with the other. The video below explains how this works.
