How to Use Closed Tab Reopen Feature in Google Chrome 78

Google Chrome is a powerful browser that supports a ton of keyboard shortcuts. However, we can’t all remember Chrome keyboard shortcuts that are easy to forget. For this reason, I find the right-click menu in Google Chrome so useful that it saves me from remembering all those keyboard shortcuts. I understand that using a mouse will be slower than using keyboard shortcuts, but some people work that way and you can’t blame them for that. Many Chrome users rely on this right-click menu, and it messes up whenever Google makes any changes to the menu. The most recent change Chrome has made to its right-click menu is the removal of the “Reopen Closed Tab” feature. In this post, I will show you how you can access and use this feature to reopen closed tabs in Chrome.

Use Closed Tab Reopen in Chrome 78

After the latest Google Chrome version 78 update, Google Chrome no longer shows the “Reopen Closed Tab” feature when you right-click on a tab. Fortunately, Google has not removed this feature. It has moved and you just need to know where to find it. Again, before continuing, you should know that You can eliminate this by remembering the “Ctrl+Shit+T” (CMD+Shift+T) keyboard shortcut.. Having said that, let’s see how you can access it using a mouse or trackpad, shall we?

If you used the “Reopen Closed Tab” feature before you knew it you could invoke it by right-clicking on the title of any tab, as shown in the image above. But if you look closely, you will notice that the feature is missing. Well, because you need it now right click on the field after the last tab, not on a tab title as shown in the picture below. That’s the only change. I don’t know why Google did this. Seems like a way to deal with Chrome users as I can’t find a reason to move this feature.

Find Hidden Reopening Closed Tab Feature

This was our little tutorial on finding the reorganized open closed tab feature. I think Google should stop messing around with the normal features we use every day. And if it has decided to change the location of a feature, the least it can do is notify users. Let us know your thoughts on the topics by writing them in the comment section below.
