How to Turn off iOS 7’s Parallax Effect

The parallax effect in iOS 7 is a new feature that gives the home screen a neat 3D look; so when you move your phone in your hand while keeping your head still, it looks like you’re looking “around” the app icons. wallpaper, almost as if you are looking at the world of iOS 7 from a window. But this is nothing more than the operating system and the gyroscope/accelerometer working together to create such an illusion.

when you are not He impressive, I liked it at first but since then I’ve gotten over the wonder factor and now I find it frustrating. Plus, it’s even more frustrating knowing that it’s probably occupying CPU resources and therefore reducing battery life. However, you can easily turn it off to save both battery life and your sanity.

Turning Off the Parallax Effect

To turn off the parallax effect, go to . Tapping on Reduce Motion will open another screen with the toggle switch. By default, the circle will be placed on the left side of the oval. To switch to the right, simply tap the circle so the oval turns green and reduces the movement. This turns off the parallax effect.

This is definitely hard to get to if you don’t know what you’re looking for, and strange as it may seem, if the setting is under “Motion Reduction” and not “Parallax Effect”, which it really isn’t. If you’re scanning for the words “parallax effect,” it’s the phrase you’re looking for.

Regardless, it’s really easy to turn on and off once you know how to do it, but if you despise the feature as much as I do, you won’t be visiting that setting again after you disable it.
