How to Turn Off Disgusting Galaxy S5 Sounds

Now that the all-new Samsung Galaxy S5 is finally available in all carriers in the United States and around the world, we are getting more and more questions regarding certain functions of the smartphone.

More importantly, we received more than a few questions and comments about those obnoxious water sounds and noises every time you interacted with the device. These are actually called touch sounds and are enabled by default as part of Samsung’s “Nature UX” interface changes that were first introduced with the Galaxy S III.

If you’ve recently purchased the new Galaxy S5, you’re probably disappointed and annoyed by the little noises and noises your phone makes when you do everything. Samsung has lock screen sound effects, a sound every time you tap a setting or option on the device, and even all the keyboard sounds out of the box.

If you’re like me and hate these options or just want to be kind to those around you, read on to learn how to quickly remove all those annoying sounds and settings.

Of course, natural tones and touch sounds can be a nice touch at first, but after a few hours of use these quickly become annoying for some users and you may want to disable them. Below are a few extremely simple steps that you must take to disable the Galaxy S5 system and the touch sound and keyboard click sounds.

Disable Touch Sounds

Small beeps for unlocking the screen are fine, but getting a weird waterdrop sound every time you tap the Galaxy S5 can get old very fast. As a result, users can choose to go into settings and disable the “Touch Sounds” option above all else. Here’s how.

Pull down the notification bar and tap the gear-shaped icon in the top right to go to settings or find the settings app in the app tray. In the first few options you will see a purple “Sound” icon and tap it. Go to the feedback section and uncheck “Touch sounds” or even “Screen lock sound”. You can also disable haptic feedback (vibration) from this menu.

Some users might want to disable the keypad tone as well, but for whatever reason it makes sense and I kept it enabled. This much. Now you’re done and your Galaxy S5 will no longer make those obnoxious sounds when you select an option, open an app, or go into settings.

Keyboard Sounds

Call me crazy but another pet rage I have (and I’m definitely not alone) is users typing and texting for hours and activating keyboard touch sounds while on a flight, on the subway or sitting in a restaurant. . Click click sounds that hear the little typewriter. Like most phones, the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with keyboard touch sounds enabled by default, and you’ll want to disable them so you don’t become “that guy or girl” when using your phone.

You will want to disable the keyboard sounds and to do so you will need to go to the settings menu detailed above. Tap on the gear-shaped settings icon, but this time we will scroll down until we see the “Language & input” icon in the system category of your settings menu. Tap Language & input, then select the gear-shaped settings menu for the keyboard you’re using. Out of the box this will be the gray “Samsung Keyboard” as shown below.

Tap on Samsung Keyboard settings, go to Key Tap feedback and uncheck the sound box. This much. Now with this on-screen keyboard, you can type as much as you want without disturbing those around you. Many users also prefer to disable the keyboard vibration feature, which is conveniently available in the same settings list.

Again, these are features that many users enjoy and want to keep enabled, but we’ve received countless questions and emails about how to disable them. The Galaxy S5 will be one of the best-selling smartphones of 2014, and for the millions of users who don’t want those touch sounds to bother everyone around you, follow the steps outlined above and you’re all set.
