Microsoft’s decision to create a version of Windows that can be used at home on laptops, tablets and 2-in-1s has revolutionized the way millions of Windows users do everything from texting to opening new apps and programs to their friends. Adopting this change properly meant that Windows had to improve and add multiple ways to do the most common of these things. Hardware Buttons
Since Windows 8 is now powering a bunch of new form factors, it’s taking screenshots on devices not traditionally thought of as PCs, which will probably confuse users the most. Take Microsoft’s Surface tablets, for example. Users can easily take screenshots by connecting these devices to a keyboard and mouse. They can also use the Windows snipping tool, described later in this how-to. All that being said, these devices are also specifically designed to be used without any other add-ons. Therefore, these users can capture screenshots with their device’s hardware buttons.

Taking screenshots with hardware buttons works on Desktop or Start Screen. Screenshots taken with hardware buttons are saved in the My pictures folder of your Windows device.
Taking Screenshots with Surface RT and Surface Pro Touch Cover and Surface Type Cover
Owners of Microsoft’s Surface RT, Surface 2, Surface Pro, and Surface Pro 2 convertibles are at a bit of a disadvantage. While nearly all other external keyboards offer users the ability to take screenshots by simply pressing the function and PRINTSCRN keys, Microsoft’s Surface Touch Cover and Surface Type Cover don’t have one. This does not mean that these users cannot take screenshots.
To take a screenshot on a Surface device with Type or Touch Cover FN key, Windows Key and space bar all at the same time. You may need to hold down a bit. Your Surface’s screen will flicker after the screenshot is taken. Screenshots taken this way are saved in the my pictures folder of your Windows 8 device.
Taking Screenshots on Any Computer Using Mouse and Keyboard
Do you have a traditional mouse and keyboard? You also have options to take screenshots. To search PRNTSCRN press the key on the top right of your keyboard. Now hold down that key and LOWER Press the button near the space at the same time to capture a screenshot.
Now navigate to where you want to save that screenshot and CTRL and V keys on your keyboard.
Taking Screenshots with Any Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 PC
One of the easiest ways to take a screenshot in Windows is to use the Snipping Tool, which is included with all Windows operating systems except Windows Vista Home Basic.
On your Windows 7, Windows Vista or Windows 8 PC, navigate to: start menu and write Screen shot device enter it in the search box. then shoot to enter on your keyboard.
Windows Vista and Windows 7 computer users should note that Start Menus will look different.
Now select the type of screenshot you want to take from the labeled drop-down menu of the Snipping Tool. new.
After taking the screenshot, choose where you want to save it and click it. File. next click save.
