How to Take a Screenshot on Galaxy Note 9

We use our phones for everything these days, and one feature people often use is to take screenshots. In this guide, we will show you how to take a screenshot on the Galaxy Note 9. There are actually several ways to capture what’s on the screen, even with the S-Pen, and you’ll want to know how.

A screenshot captures everything on your screen. Then you can save, edit or share this screenshot however you want.

Even if you know how to take a screenshot on Galaxy Note 9, you might not know the other ways. It’s like capturing the screen with your palm or the stylish S-Pen stylus. Also, many users don’t know all the neat things you can do after taking a screenshot.

Those from iPhone or using other Android smartphones will feel right at home. This is because a quick and simple button combination instantly captures everything on the screen. And if this is your first Galaxy upgrade in a while, you’ll need to know the new method as there is no longer a physical home button.

How to Take a Screenshot on Galaxy Note 9 (normal way)

If you want to take a screenshot of something important in an email or save a photo, this is it. What all owners should do is both at the same time. Press, hold and release. It’s just one way to do it though.

Basically, you quickly hold down both buttons at the same time for about a second, then release. You will see and hear the screenshot taking process. It’s that simple. Your Note 9 has just recorded what’s on the screen and you can instantly access that image from the gallery or from the notification bar.

Take a Screenshot with Palm Swipe

This next way is something you probably did by accident. You can take a screenshot just by swiping your hand on the screen of your phone. Open the one you want to capture, then hold the edge of your hand (wrist and palm of your hand and pinky finger) on the screen. Then, swipe the edge of your hand from left to right across the entire screen. This is the palm swipe screenshot gesture on Samsung phones.

It works both ways and it may take a few tries before you master the technique. Once you understand it, you can take a screenshot with a swipe and then share or save it as you wish. Again, the button combination is easier for me, but the gesture is faster and works without picking up your phone.

How to Take a Screenshot with S-Pen on Galaxy Note 9

If you are a big fan of the S-Pen or use it often, you can also take screenshots with it. When you take out the S-Pen, tap “Screen Typing” from the “air commands” popup to instantly capture a screenshot. You can also instantly edit or draw the capture with your pen. Perfect for taking notes, circling something in a photo, and more.

Take out the S-Pen, select Write Screen, wait for the phone to capture your screenshot and you’re ready. You can change the colors, pen size, and other customization options while editing the picture. Then save, crop or share your new screenshot.

And finally, we want to explain one more thing, that is Smart Capture. Once enabled, you will see more information at the bottom of the screen after taking the screenshot. This is how the “scrolling screenshot” is taken. Basically, you can easily take multiple screenshots of an entire website, email, text message conversation, and more. It allows you to capture one long image instead of three or four.

Take a screenshot with the button combination, palm swipe or S-Pen, then you will see something similar to our image above.

Hit “Capture more” and Galaxy Note 9 will continue to take screenshots until you stop. Scrolling for you and taking it one after another. It’s a nice feature, but the dropdown options (and more snap buttons) are a bit slow. As a result, I disable it and just take normal screenshots. To disable this banner go to Settings > Advanced Options > and disable “Smart Capture” to turn it off.

Everything Else You Need to Know

Screenshots are instantly saved to your image gallery under “screenshots” for easy access. Additionally, you can find a preview of the screenshot in the notification bar to quickly share, edit or delete it.

Also, if you find that you accidentally took a screenshot, it’s probably the palm swipe method. Here’s how to turn it off. go Settings > Device > Advanced features > Palm swipe to capture > and toggle power button.
