Windows 10 is a very refined operating system, but it also has loads of useless applications that slow down its performance. One such app is the Photos app. Sure, the Photos app has some great features, but the photo viewing experience in the app is heavy and laggy. It also lacks the raw performance of its previous version, Windows Photo Viewer. While Windows 10 comes with Windows Photo Viewer included, users can only use it to view .TIFF files and nothing else. Naturally, Windows does not give users the option to set Windows Photo Viewer as their preferred photo viewer software. Fortunately, there is a workaround for this. note: The following procedure requires Administrator Rights, so make sure you are logged in as a user with administrator privileges.
- To start, download Windows Photo Viewer enabler log file from here.
- After downloading the file, double click it to run it. A User Account Control A window will now appear asking if you want to allow the app to make changes to your device. just click “Yes” to continue.
- A dialog will now appear warning you about adding changes to the Windows registry. Simply click “Yes” to continue editing your registry file
- The program will now continue to make changes to your registry file. Once complete, it will show a dialog showing that all keys and values have been successfully added to the registry. now you can click “OK” to close the window.
- Next, Open the Start Menuand write “Default Application Settings” and when the result is displayed, click on it to enter the default apps menu.
- Once you are in the default apps menu, scroll down. “Photo viewer” choice. click on the icon that says “Choose default”. Note that a different app may appear under this option, depending on your previous preferences.
- A drop-down menu will now open. choose “Windows Photo Viewer” From here.
- And that’s it. Windows Photo Viewer is now set as your default photo viewer app. Open any photo and it will open in Windows Photo Viewer.
