The Fitbit Versa 2 brings several benefits to the table. Besides showing all your fitness stats in one place, it lets you listen to music and check your Android’s (or iPhone)’s notification from your watch, and more. You can also check your text messages on Fitbit Versa 2 from your Android or iPhone. We’ll tell you how.
What makes the Fitbit Versa 2 special is that it handles notifications for text messages and emails pretty seamlessly. The ease with which you can control the priority of incoming messages without unlocking your phone is a godsend.
Lift your wrist to control the Versa 2. And the story doesn’t end there. You can even reply to some of these messages on some Android phones. Sounds interesting, right?
In this post today, we’ll show you how to get notifications for text messages on your Fitbit Versa 2 on both Android and iPhone. That’s not all, we’ll also show you how to add a set of custom Quick Replies to make your job easier.
How to Receive Text Messages on Fitbit Versa 2 from Android
Stage 1: Open the Fitbit app on your phone and tap the little profile icon in the top left corner. Next, tap the card that says Versa 2 and click Notifications.
Step 2: Next, tap on App Notifications and choose your default messaging app from the list. Android users can even choose WhatsApp at this point. Is not it beautiful?
Now, you have to send yourself a text message and you will see the same notification on your Versa 2 with the option to reply. So all you have to do is tap on it and dictate your message. It doesn’t get any better than this.
But at this point, you must have the Voice Replies option enabled for voice replies to work.
How to Send Private Replies from Versa 2 on Android
The speech-to-text technology on the Fitbit Versa 2 is pretty much awesome. It translates small words and phrases pretty quickly without any issues. But when it comes to slightly longer sentences or complex words, it doesn’t get it right on the first try. And if you have to use this feature quite often, it can backfire.
In such cases, the Quick Response of the Fitbit app comes into play. Using it, you can create custom responses out of the box. Therefore, if you often answer “I will review”, you can add it to the list. You can even reply to incoming texts and messages with emojis.
Tap Quick Replies > Messages inside the notification window and add your favorite replies. The same goes for Emojis. If you use more like emojis, tap one of the emojis to change it.
The next time you receive a text message, all you have to do is scroll down and choose one of the replies from the list. That too without unlocking your phone. Yes, you can thank me later.
How to Receive Text Messages from iPhone on Fitbit Versa 2
Setting up text messages on iPhone and Fitbit Versa 2 is almost similar to Android setup. However, there are a few additional changes you need to make if your iPhone is on iOS 13.
Stage 1: Open Settings on your phone and tap Notifications > Messages. Here, make sure that Banner style alert is enabled for text messages.
Also, set Show Previews to Always or When Unlocked.
Step 2: Next, open the Bluetooth settings, tap your Fitbit device and toggle the Share System Notification switch.
Stage 3: Now go to the Fitbit app on your iPhone and tap the profile icon in the top left corner. Then select Versa 2 from the menu and select Notifications from the list.
When done, toggle the Text Messages key from the list. You can also have Calls and Calendar Events arrive.
The only limitation of the iPhone Fitbit app is the lack of a Quick Replies option. That’s why you’ll have to use your phone when replying to messages and likes.
note
Managing Notifications on iPhone
When notification is enabled, your Versa 2 also displays all notifications transmitted by e-commerce and banking applications. While this can be helpful, it can be distracting and time consuming at times.
The good news is that the app gives you better control over which notification you want to receive on your phone. For this, tap the notification card and change the buttons of the apps you don’t want to be disturbed.
Get on the Move
Apart from the above, Fitbit comes with various options and features that allow you to use it as a mini computer. Alexa on your wrist means you can set reminders and to-dos without having to unlock your phone. All you have to do is go to the last screen and tap the Alexa icon and continue.
