Earlier, we covered how you can use a GoPro camera to livestream to Facebook. But this method only worked for streaming live video to your personal profile. So what do you do if you want to stream live video from your Mac or PC to a page you manage? If you’ve always wanted to livestream to your Facebook Page, don’t worry, the process is relatively easy. Well, Here’s how you can live stream to your Facebook page:
Requirements
First, let’s talk about what you need to livestream to Facebook Pages. You will need:
one. OBS Studio (Available for free on macOS, Windows, and Linux). Make sure you download OBS Studio and not the old OBS Classic. There is no Facebook Live support in the classic version.
2. A Facebook Page you manage.
3. An internet connection with a good upload speed. Usually 4 Mbps+ upload speeds will suffice, but faster is always better. Slower networks will also work, but you will definitely see significant lag.
Set Up Your Facebook Page for Live Streaming
After downloading OBS Studio, you can proceed to set up your Facebook page for live streaming from your laptop. I’m showing this on a Mac, but the process will be pretty much the same for Windows and Linux. To create a live stream on your Facebook Page, simply follow the steps below:
1. Open Facebook and go to page You want to broadcast live. Here, “Publishing Tools“.
2. Select “Videos”from the sidebar and click the button that says “Live”.
3. From the Pop-up that opens “Flow Switch“. You’ll need this for OBS Studio to be able to post the stream to Facebook. Make sure you don’t share the stream key with anyone else. Then, click “Next”.
Your Facebook Page is now ready to receive live streams from your computer, so let’s move on to installing OBS Studio.
Install OBS Studio to Post Video to Facebook
Now we need to start OBS Studio, select a video source (or multiple sources if we want) and use the “stream switch” to let OBS Studio forward the video stream to Facebook. To get this setup, simply follow the steps below:
1. Start OBS Studioand click on “Settings”.
2. Click here “Transfer” in the sidebar and paste your copied Stream Key. Moreover, “Facebook Live“, under “Service“. You do not need to change other settings. Then, “OK“.
3. Now, we need add source to OBS Studio. These are what OBS Studio receives the stream. There are many options, but we will only use our WebCam. Click “+” under “resources“.
4. In the menu that opens, “Video Capture Device“.
5. Name your device whatever you want and I will simply name it “FaceTime HD Camera“. Next, “OK“.
6. In the next window, Choose FaceTime Camera (or your webcam) from the drop-down menu and then “OK”.
7. You should be able to see your webcam feed in OBS Studio. This is the video that OBS will post to Facebook for live streaming. Click “Start Stream“. OBS Studio will now start posting your webcam feed to Facebook.
Going Live on Facebook
You should now be able to see your Webcam feed on Facebook. Once you’re sure you’re ready to go live, all you have to do is “Go Live“. Facebook will then start broadcasting your video live on your Facebook Page, and you’ll see what you’re doing live, along with a set of stats for your video.
When you complete the live stream, “End Live Video” and Facebook will end the live stream.
