No matter how much Android has come to prominence in the last few years, it cannot provide a unified and consistent experience across third-party apps and services. Since Spotify launched in India with great anticipation, Google Assistant integration was nowhere to be found. Users have flocked to Twitter to complain about the issue, but Google has yet to release any fixes. If you visit music services within Google Assistant, there is still no trace of Spotify. But there is no need to panic. Although Spotify is not on their music service, there is a way to add it to Google Assistant. In this post, we will share our neat trick that allows you to connect your Spotify account to Google Assistant.
Integrate Spotify with Google Assistant
1. Open Google Assistant by long pressing the home button. Later on, Click the Explore button in the bottom right. A new Discover page will open. Here search for Spotify and open it.
2. Now you will have the option to link your Spotify account to Google Assistant. Tap the “Link” button and it will present you with a popup dialog looking for permissions to connect to your Google account.
3. In the next window, Tap the Accept button, and you’re done. You will now be able to play songs on Spotify using Google Assistant. Note that playing individual songs with voice command is only available to premium users.
Despite its shortcomings, Google Assistant is by far the best voice assistant on the planet. I wish Google would streamline everything so regular users could enjoy its tricks.
