How to Jailbreak iOS 9 with Pangu

In a release that could come as a surprise, an iOS 9 jailbreak has been officially released. Here’s how to jailbreak iOS 9 on your iPhone or iPad.

Ever since iOS 9 was first announced during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June, the jailbreak community has been speculating about when we might see an iOS 9 jailbreak. Of course, we’ll have to wait for iOS 9 to actually roll out to the public, and patience has been a hard virtue since it came out last month.

However, shortly before the expected release of iOS 9.1 update, Pangu jailbreak developer team has released an official iOS 9 jailbreak for iPhone and iPad, allowing users to finally unlock the new version of iOS and let it fly.

iOS 9 jailbreak is compatible with all iOS devices running iOS 9, including iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini. 4, iPad, iPad Air, and iPad Air 2. The iPad Pro will most likely launch with iOS 9.1, so it’s probably not immediately jailbreakable.

If you are interested in jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad, the process is really easy and no coding or programming knowledge is required. Here’s how to jailbreak iOS 9 using Pangu’s new jailbreak tool.

How to jailbreak iOS 9

Just like jailbreaks in the past, the process of jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad in iOS 9 is quite simple and similar to previous jailbreak versions.

First off, it’s important to know that the jailbreak tool is Windows only at the moment, so you will need a Windows machine to jailbreak your device. If you’re on a Mac, you can use a utility like Parallels to run Windows, but if you’re not familiar with all of them, it might be best to wait until a Mac jailbreak tool comes out.

In any case, you’ll want to make sure you back up your device using iTunes first so if something goes wrong with the jailbreak process, you’ll have a backup to go back to.

To go Pangu’s website and download the jailbreak tool by clicking the button. Plug in your iPhone or iPad and open the jailbreak tool on your computer.

Next, you need to disable Find My iPhone and then turn on Airplane Mode (in this order). You can disable Find My iPhone by going in and turning it off. Airplane Mode can be enabled directly from the Control Center.

Now just click inside the Pangu jailbreak tool to start the jailbreak process. Before you start you will see a warning page about backing up your device, but if you’ve already done that, just click on it.

The jailbreak tool will start doing its job. At some point your device will reboot and once it reboots you will need to enable Airplane Mode again. To do this, you will receive a reminder on the screen.

Finally, you will be asked to open the Pangu app, tap its icon, and then allow the app to access the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad (probably because there’s an exploit there, that’s how jailbreak happens).

After that keep your device connected to your computer and do not close the Pangu app on your iPhone or iPad. Eventually the process will complete and your device will reboot one last time. After that, you can unplug it from your computer and you will start the races.

The whole process will only take a few minutes and once done, you will now have a fully jailbroken iOS 9 device.

Note that not all jailbreak tweaks will work immediately with iOS 9, so you’ll need some patience before you go crazy with your newly jailbroken device.
