The iPhone 5’s 4-inch screen is great for watching videos, but unfortunately the iPhone 5 doesn’t include the YouTube app that comes with all other iPhones.

Fortunately, there are still ways to watch YouTube online. iPhone 5and both methods are arguably better than the YouTube app that ships with iOS 5.

The first method is to download a new one. YouTube app from the App Store. More detailed instructions are available for installing the YouTube iPhone app.

Google released the new app last week, removing the built-in YouTube app just a day before Apple launched the iPhone 5 and a week before iOS 6 was released. The app has most of the features of the website, including the ability to play ads before videos.

Unfortunately, YouTube is one of the many apps on the App Store that isn’t yet ready for the iPhone 5’s longer screen. The app has black boxes at the top and bottom of each view of the iPhone 5 screen. Let’s hope Google fixes this soon.

Until Google updates the app, the best method to watch YouTube videos on iPhone 5 is Mobile Safari. Users can visit m.youtube.com Watch videos on their iPhone and still. The website is a little slower than the app and not intuitive, but the same videos work on both.

The mobile website allows users to avoid ads in their videos, but the trade-off is that users should watch lower quality videos. The mobile website does not offer the same quality video as the YouTube app. The mobile website also doesn’t offer the same sharing options as the YouTube app, so heavy video sharers will want to stick with the app.

When you visit YouTube in the browser, there is no letterbox, and users can watch videos on the iPhone 5’s larger, larger screen.

Hopefully, Google will update the app soon so that iPhone users can get a better YouTube experience.
