Earlier today, we said that many people are having trouble accessing Passbook compatible apps, one of the new features of iOS 6, the operating system that Apple released today. It looks like there is now a simple fix that will allow users to access the App Store and thus some Passbook compatible apps.
A few readers have come out with a fix for the Unable to Connect Error that many people see when trying to access the App Store via the Passbook app.
I counted myself as one of them until I used this fix.
.
After using the fix I can now access the App Store via Passbook.
It is extremely simple and will only take a few minutes of your time. You will then be able to download some apps compatible with Apple’s new service.
1. First go to on your iPhone.
2. Click on it.
3. Next, go to the one below the list.
4. Once inside, you will want to change it to .
5. Go to item.
6. Click on it. When you do this, you will be given the option to change the date.
7. Move the year forward one year.
8. This will prevent the error from occurring. If you want to revert the date back to the actual date, simply set it and everything will be back to normal.
9. Go to Passbook and marvel at the apps.
This fixed the issue for me, at least for now, and I now have access to a number of Passbook compatible apps, including Fandango, United Airlines, and Live Nation.
For those who don’t know, passbook is a new feature in iOS 6 that allows users to use their iPhone as a mobile wallet. This feature is not available on iPad.
Companies will start adding cards for Passbook, and once they do, users will be able to store things like plane tickets and movie tickets, which can pop up an alert in the Notification Center. Passes in Pasbook also include the option to automatically alert users when it’s time to use them.
Passbook passes are currently inactive, but users can create their own cards at: Password Source. This site is not affiliated in any way with Apple, so be careful.
For those who can’t wait, this is definitely a viable option.
iOS 6 is Apple’s new operating system and comes with over 200 new features for iDevice users. Available to owners of iPhone 3GS and later, owners of iPad 2 and later, and fourth-generation iPod touch.
Thanks Paul!
