How to Fix Keyboard Lag in iOS 7 on iPhone 4s

iOS 7 was officially released yesterday and users with iPhone 4 or later can join the fun. I’ve shared my first impressions of iOS 7 running on iPhone 4s and overall performance has been fantastic. However, many of you experience tons of keyboard lag when typing messages and emails – something I’ve never encountered during my experience.

However, there is an easy way to fix this, but this is more of a temporary solution than a permanent solution because we hope Apple hears about the bug and releases a small update to fix it in the near future. The keyboard lag issue lies in iCloud, which is a weird place to experience keyboard lag issue, but many iPhone 4s users have sworn to this fix.

Fix iOS 7 Keyboard Lag

If you are experiencing lag and lags while typing messages, try this: Open the Settings app and go to . This will open another window where you will see a toggle switch. If it’s already off, turn it off (i.e. the circle on the toggle switch should be on the left).

After disabling Documents and Data, the keyboard should work just fine, but be sure to open iMessage or another typing app and try it out to be sure. You can then turn Documents & Data sync back on if needed, but if you turn on iCloud > Storage & Backup, the keyboard issue is said to reappear (according to some of our readers), so you’ll have to turn Documents & Data sync back on if you do.

From what we heard from readers, this fixed the issue for everyone. However, if that doesn’t fix it for you, you can try the last resort fix. You can open the Settings app and go to . This will only reset the settings and will not delete any data or media you have stored on your device, but you will have to go back to the Settings app and return everything to the way you had it before. However, I was told that this also works to fix the keyboard lag issue.
