Ambience mode in Chrome OS was a long-awaited feature with rumors that its launch has been going on for months. Fortunately, the feature has landed on the Beta channel and you can now enjoy Ambiance Mode without having to switch to the buggy Dev or Canary channel. Meanwhile, Ambient Mode has been enhanced with Google Photos integration, which is pretty exciting. and according ChromeStory, Ambient Mode is now renamed Screen Saver on the Canary channel. Enable Ambient Mode (Screensaver) in Chrome OS
1. First of all, what you need to do Switch to beta channel To do this, open the Settings page of Chrome OS and go to About Chrome OS -> Additional Details -> Change Channel -> Beta. Now go back to the “About Chrome OS” page and check for updates. By the way, I’m running Chrome OS Beta Build 85.0.4183.59.
2. After booting into the beta build, chrome://flags and “Enable Ambient Mode“. Alternatively you can copy and paste chrome://flags/#enable-ambient-mode and activate it immediately.
3. Now restart your Chromebook and open Chrome Settings again. This time “PersonalizationGo to the ” tab and turn on “Ambient Mode”.
4. Activate the toggle here and select “Art Gallery” or “Google Photos” as per your preference. Art gallery art, culture curated displaysEarth, space and more.
5. You can also choose Google Photos. Lists all your albums, favorites, and highlights from Google Photos. The integration is really deep and works pretty well.
6. You can now see the screen saver in action whenever you lock your Chromebook. You can manually press Search + L to lock your Chromebook. The best part is also Shows weather information and duration is similar to Google Assistant’s Ambient mode on Android.
